My prescription is 1 vicodin or what ever pain opioid that was prescribed, 3 fingers of MacCallens and 1/2 of a Guiness. I thunk that should do it.
I apologize @mikeoso I was having my lungs scoped due to the Wunnerful Air quality here. I hope you feel better soon. I prescribe the same for you and as much "Grunt Candy" as your stomach can tolerate.

I guess that could be your Friday report for the weekend... hope the rest goes better.

GOF's please report in that all appendages accounted for (except Mikeoso) and you're fairly tolerable. Carey and I have to continue rooting out stuff we haven't used but stored for years. It's so easy to buy things but not get rid of the old stuff. Starting to feel a bit crowded. A good weekend clean will clean up our little house admirably.

I installed my last new computer today and have to take a week to inventory for the City and plan my FY21 master order. Unusual this year we are ordering more laptops than desktops. Many of our staff are able to remote in since their work is mostly administrative. The field guys who work in streets, in the garage and water treatment are a bit more basic users and only require desktops. Nice to have some breathing room after a crazy 8 months... So what say ye, GOF's--what do you have planned this weekend?

This weekend wil be spent cleaning weapon and side arm sir. Freshly divorced middle daughter has a date.

Everything I know of is all accounted for. Got the Cherry Blossoms mural completed on the ceiling of the new porch, yesterday, so we are getting closer to the end of the little projects for it.

Saturday, we are going to the CMA to check out a few exhibits there:

PROOF is still there, as is the Tiffany in Bloom lamps exhibit. We're going to see the Gold Needles: Embroidery Art from Korea exhibit; the Ilse Bing: Queen of the Leica exhibit; A Graphic Revolution: Prints and Drawings in Latin America; and Spotlight On a New Generation: Contemporary Chinese Artists.

Then, maybe dinner with the SO's brother at a local Lebanese restaurant.

This weekend brings a Saturday road trip to the country to stock up on basic provisions such as tins, flour, TP, and bird sunflower seeds for the winter. The car will get an eight hour run, I’ll get to listen to some music. On Sunday, I’ll buy fixings to make a chicken stew. Jeff posted a good image of one this week.

Some amp related woodworking to do. I seem to encounter one roadblock after the next. It moves along at a snail’s pace.

I fear that the warm weather of Indian Summer is over, have to winterize the air conditioning and windows. Also need to change the weather stripping on the front door. It has an Abloy lock that wants picking just for fun.

There’s never seems to be enough time in the day to get through all the chores. One day of the week should be designated Funday.

I have a Dell XPS 15 laptop. Non touch. I found the Gorilla Glass made the lid too top heavy and I still like using keyboard shortcuts. Faster than a mouse. Anyway, it was holiday time and I ordered the laptop with 8GB of RAM, a 250GB SSD, i5 processor for $1099 using my Dell Financial Services charge card. What arrived was an XPS 15 with 16GB RAM, 500GB SSD, and an i7 10th gen processor. I called Dell and explained the mistake. They offered it to me for $100 more and I said I had a specific budget. I was hedging and the customer support rep said hold on I'll be right back.

When he got back on he said because I bought it with Dell Financial Services it would be a major problem to return it and credit then re-order. He said I could keep the laptop for $1099 if I agreed, and also I would get a $100 Dell gift card. I agreed, so in the end, I got an $1,199 laptop for $999 due to Dell's error. I did apply the card to my Dell account to drop the price. The laptop is 1/2" thick, super bright screen, and it's pretty speedy. I don't do anything resource intensive, so it's a great bargain for me. Here's a generic pic of it...

Great machine there. Wonder if it can run DOS?

Never know what I'm going to see beyond my window. Usually I'll notice a movement and take time to see what's there. I've watched the deer gain their antlers. I've watched the fox kits grow. I've watched mama bear lead her two cubs to ?

There's a pumpkin just beyond. A little one, and I let it be. It's a good view, but it's not my view. My view is of the sea, and it's my wallpaper. Working to rectify that ... it's good to walk without pain :thumbsup:

Got zero pain here, so no need for meds. Wish they still made APCs though. Way more effective than ibuprofen. Cant drink alcohol anyhow... Developed a sensitivity 10 years ago. Swallow one beer, I act and feel like a stroke victim.

I sure know that feeling. Currently waiting on the custom grill screen, then I can finally glue this head case up and move along to the front panel overlay fabrication.

I have at times run command line but I haven't seen DOS since Windows 2000, maybe XP. I started on an Epson XT PC with (if I remember correctly) 512 K of RAM, and a 20 MB drive. It came without DOS installed. I had to install it from 5 1/4" floppies. Epson had customized the DOS to include elements from Norton which were fun to play with. Then I installed PFS Works which was an early version of Micrsoft Works. My Epson dot matrix was so loud I had to put the printer in the walk in closet! I got really excited when I bought WordStar from DAK. Shoot, seems like another lifetime ago. That was 1990...

Yep, 1/8” aluminum cut to order from Landfall Systems. They provided the CNC machining for the big holes like the tubes sockets and power inlet very economicslly too. 22 lbs. total before the preamp section and head case are added, probably 33-35 lbs. all in.

The head case will do double duty as the cradle once it’s put together. Just 8 screws on the bottom plate to remove and you get full access for service or mods.

Microsoft has released the source code for MS-DOS 1.25 and 2.0. I remember reading the source code when it was first released in the 80’s.

Started in 1986 with a Leading Edge. 512 k RAM, no HD, two 5 1/4 floppies. Yellow on green, DOS. Cost $1700, plus the dot matrix printer.
