Get off my LAWN! "Grumpy Old Farts"

@Stumbo ! Nice to see you pop up!

Calling all GOF's for roll call. It's Friday! Please report in checking that most fingers and toes and assorted appendages accounted for. Yesterday was delicious. There was a slight mist in the air as I went to work. The air feels crisp with Fall. Multi-colored leaves are blowing across the parking lot and falling on our windshields. I love this time of year.

It hints at good things to come--Halloween, then Thanksgiving, and Christmas. We bought some new curtain rods and curtains for our bedroom so that's my chore for the weekend. I notice that I'm a bit more tired and achy at the end of a work day nowadays. I guess at 68 that's to be expected. This afternoon I have a dental appointment and really looking forward to it. It's the only time that I get to have two pretty ladies lay across my chest and smell so nice! The dental clinic I go to is phenomenal--from reception to all procedures. I'm lucky to have such a good group supporting my teeth.

So what say ye, GOF's? What are your plans for this weekend? Anyone getting ready for Fall?

It’s raining today and I couldn’t go out. It’s supposed to be nice on the weekend.

Pizza dough is proofing in the fridge, waiting for this evening. Other than the normal boiler plate of tasks, hope to spend some time in a cemetery.

Last weekend I stumbled across the family crypt of a former brewer and shipping magnate. Born in the 1700’s, he partnered with someone who was brewing beer. At 21 he took over the company and did well. By the late 1700’s he was selling 30,000 gallons of beer a year. That lead to steamships, railroads, even banking. All related to his brewery business. He had a hospital stay and as a result, built a new bigger hospital. Many institutions that he founded still exist. He wife had arthritis and died a result of the opioid they used to treat it.

So many years later, those old resting places serve as a document of history. I also enjoy visiting the grounds, it’s such a peaceful place filled with wildlife. Great for bird watching.

Not much to report on here. Going to be a quiet weekend. No plans, I hope!

This makes transmissions so easy to understand.

Western Electric Sound Systems credited ... Western Electric even did beauty pageants :help:

And confirming all fingers and toes are operational here on this Friday in October. It's beginning to appear my radius of movement is wider with this boot. I see today marks three weeks out of surgery, and going to say in this light, I'm healing well.

Plans for the weekend don't take me far afield!

Present! (sigh) That's about it.

Yeah. Lots of snow to shovel, sheets of black ice to have an approaching car from behind slide into yours, etc....... :D

...hope to spend some time in a cemetery.
In a hurry? ;)
keeping an eye peeled...
Every see the opening sequence to Le Chien Andalou?

All parts (presumably) working, here. Going to pick up an old chair that has been in the family for decades; we had it reupholstered as the old fabric was in pretty sad shape (not original, it had been reuped in the 1950s, is my guess from the fabric style) The upholsterer found some of the real original fabric under that, so we will keep it in a bag attached to the underside of the chair.

Present and I believe I am of reasonably sound mind.

Docs finally declared that I am allergic to the stuff I get in my infusions - Remicade. It only took three infusions with significant adverse reactions to figure that out. My wife is a RN and she figured it out as soon as I had the first adverse reaction. My docs treated her opinion in a dismissive manner. Just goes to show that there are still a goodly number of men who think they are smarter than women merely because they are male.

On a different note, I found out yesterday evening that I am going to be a grandfather again.

As for this weekend, if the weather holds up, I plan to do some painting outside. I could have the HOA do it for me, but I would rather tackle it myself.

I also plan to work on my chops this weekend. I usually practice about 2 hours per day, but I am going to ramp that up.

Just ramping up to Halloween. I’ve never dropped by but they have a crematorium. I really like ice cream and wouldn’t mind going there for a cone.

Will this be a sittin’ on or a lookin’ at chair? Does the wood frame get treated by the chair doctor before it is upholstered?

Every time Odin goes to the groomer, he hook-and-loop tapes himself to me for a few days. Thursday night was no exception. It's an amazing and beautiful thing to feel as he cuddles as best a 50 pound poodle can.

Tell me more!
