Drove past a new Chi-Chi's in Monterrey, MX on the way from the airport to the city. The parking lot was empty. The driver told me that no family would take their children to a place called Chi-Chi's. Apparently, the American owners of the chain were unaware of the slang meaning of "chi-chis".Not anymore, my wife said we used to have them "many many years ago", not at least since I've been coming here, about eighteen years. We had Ace Home Center though, now called Maestro. There are some McDonald's and KFC here. Coca Cola, Lay's potato chips. There's even Chili's and Friday's, places like that but the native restaurants are better. We're not inundated with American stuff here though which is nice. The most common soda (Gaseosa) here is called Inca Kola and it tastes just like Bazooka Bubblegum for anyone that remembers that, it's terrible.
