In the mid-60's we lived in Juneau. It was the psychedelic era. There was a very popular band there that played all the San Francisco hits. "Captain Flynn and His Electric Flying Orchestra" was the name of the band. Farfisa organ and some other small electric keyboard he used for playing bass. So, keyboard, guitar, and drums. The keyboardist played bass so well you hardly noticed there was no bass player-- at least the non playing audience didn't. I remember them doing a perfect rendition of Light My Fire and Riders on the Storm. Light My Fire was perfect for the Farfisa. Oh, and they did 96 Tears too!

I learned to play 96 Tears on the keys way back when! Our keyboardist said he couldn't make a certain gig, so I put diwn my rhythm guitar and had him show it to me. He thought I couldn't do it, but the rest of the band said it was good enough. I had already learned Double Shot (Of My Baby's Love). I'm not sure though, if his conflict really disappeared or he just didn't want to lend me his Farfisa Combo Compact.

In the band I spoke of in Juneau, the guitarist used a fuzz tone called Jordan Electronics Boss Tone. It was a very small box that plugged directly into the guitar. There was one dial control on the side. Does anyone remember this small distortion unit? It sure sounded great for the time.
The PM1000 mic pre's were very good. Yamaha audio engineering was superb and ahead of the curve.
Absolutely, I had one. It had a 9V battery inside that didn't last too long. The problem with it is that it needed a flat surface to plug in. I used an adapter to use it with a stratocaster.
Jordan Boss Tone
Keith Richards tells an interesting story about Satisfaction. He used the fuzz pedal (Gibson Maestro as I recall) when recording to simulate horns. He thought that the fuzz would be replaced with real saxes but they released it as is.

I wonder if his second keyboard was one of these (Ray Manzarek used one for bass when The Doors played without a bass player). This modeled version by Sampleson is excellent!

Of course this one is different than yours. It plugged into the amp. Your post just brought back my memories.
In my adolescent youth memory, that looks VERY familiar! I think I remember that unique hump on top! Wow we are really going back to my days of high school musical experiences! He had it on top of the Farfisa, and it was as small as the one you have pictured. I'm thinking that might have been it!
Like so many things back then, someone borrowed it and I never saw it again. I had a gray VOX Tone Bender fuzz that I liked but it went missing as well, the Jordan replaced it.
The tone bender was better sounding as I recall, it used Mullard OC75 or OC81 transistors (I've built some for old times sake). It was all in how the high end distortion sounded. The original tone benders can sell for a couple of grand these days.

Wow! Thanks @Deleted member 268085 ! I'm having a small epiphany that I was actually watching a teenage Doors cover band! And they were excellent! They also did The Young Rascals really well. I remember them doing all the mid to late psychedelic hits. They also had a girl singer that came up sometime and sang Jefferson Airplane. Wasn't bad but it really needed a real bass guitar...

Very cool! For anyone interested, Martinic has a modeled version of the Kee Bass. And it's FREE! VST2 only. Installed, but haven't played it yet.
