Well, thank you so much Amazon Prime! I turned on my TV and switched to HDMI Port2 for the Amazon Fire Stick I use for streaming. A big fanfare and announcement ........"please wait while we install the new, improved Fire software." It gets done installing and now the entire format is screwy. All my main favorites are tiny icons. Featured shows and specials are large. Nothing is where it's supposed to be!

Then when I was done with the Fire stick, my one voice command--my ONE VOICE COMMAND-- I use-- "HDMI1" to return to the cable box-- and Fire software says, "Sorry device not recognized. We can't carry out your request." ????????!!!!!!!!????? And this is an update by Amazon for an Amazon product that I use on an Amazon remote for ONE voice command? I can't undo the "upgrade." Now I have to call Amazon to find out why its software doesn't recognize it's own remote control voice commands. Sheesh. that makes me grumpy! :bored:

I don't really like your post but, it is the sign of the times. My wife, bless her heart, is wise enough to say to me, "Fix it. All I want to do is use this S__T". I just wish I could say the same to someone else and not have to deal with this S___T. :poop::)

That's us, at dinner at my alma mater. Or about eight. Depends on the year, whether or not the head of the table is solo. Manners are critical.

The rules are so majorly relaxed my first year that only weekday dinners are semi-formal. Strictly secular, no ranks, no uniforms, no morning prayers. What we learn — what I learn — speaking of dress code ... is what I learn later is called "malicious compliance".

Which, if we're talking about retirement

is how it is utterly normal to me even today to dress a touch nicer on a daily basis than might ever be entertained by a "reasonable" person. I mean, who doesn't want to get out of their work clothes? (all mine went to charity) Dressing casually for me is kinda dressed up for the most everyone I know. But I haven't even owned jeans since I was probably 11 years old.

And this very morning as I return from a supermarket run, have to run a systems check on my own integrity because for a moment I forget if I left the house without a bra

all of which is to say we take little bits of our lives with us as we go along. And I keep the parts that are fun. Because the parts that aren't fun don't exist in the present any more than I give them any power to be.

What I have right here in the present is a very smart standard poodle who gets a back scratch on demand.

Can you do a hard reboot of the TV? Unplug for a few minutes after shutting down, then restart. On some TV's reboot is accessed through menus. Otherwise, google for secret keystrokes for your set. This can put you into service mode which provides additional menus.

Keep blowin' down the road, man... ;) I've been watching some Skynyrd documentary lately. Buying that Convair was a bad decision compounded by (their road manager's, I assume) deciding to fly it to the mechanics for much-needed repair instead of flying in the mechanics to their location.

This is our regular trash day and I have stuff in the spare bedroom that I could certainly throw away so I guess I'll have plenty to do on this unscheduled day off. So what's everyone else doing this weekend, GOF's? Any exciting or interesting plans?

Weekly aquarium maintenance, relaxing, practicing and performing probably a dozen songs, and enjoying the Spring groove. As well as enjoying everything budding and leafing out, it's morel mushroom time here. :cool:
