I just Googled a page with used original MM parts on it and it is all crazy expensive.
I had a fellow TBer (endorsing artist and awesome player to boot) do some work on the electrical end of a MM Sabre that I have. The multi-pole switch has crapped out on it. He told me that I might want to just work around it if I can. Mine is a 1979 pre EB and from what I now see it was not bad advice.

Mine's a 79 and what I anticipate (pray for) is the replacement preamp from EBMM that (according to TB) runs $65ish, and maybe a replacement pickup
At this point there is no need to keep it pristine vintage for some future collector to gloat over when I'm not around to play it. I need a working bass.
The replacement bits on the bridge — bridge bolts, saddles, and mutes, all sum out to (cocktail napkin guesstimate) ~ $50.

The bridge bolts were the first to show corrosion and that was a long time ago. No idea what really happened. But it deserves to be played again and I hope they don't ding me too hard

Need to rephrase. That sounded like I like U2 at least a little. I do not like them even a little.

Funny story: For my wife's 50th birthday (in 2017) I took her to see U2 in Chicago at Soldiers Field. U2 was her favorite band. Not so much with me, but I took her anyways because I love my wife.

Anyways, so we are waiting in line before the show to go in and we are standing amongst some serious U2 fans and I mentioned, "Hey, you do know this is the U2 Pretentious Tour?". The folks around us are "Really? That's cool."

It is hard to mention Bono without thinking pretentious or pompous....

All old parts are, I just bought some old Gibson EB-3 parts, the bridge with mute was 237.00 and that was cheaper than the one he sold before it which went for 313 bucks I think. I bought a 70's ric tailpiece and bridge for a little over 100 bucks which was cheap, you should see the prices for some of the old Fender stuff. There's a 1964 Fender P neck for 3000.00 right now on ebay.

Yeah, that's a bit pricey. Maybe look for parts somewhere besides BANJO Warehouse?

That did occur to me since I posted it . On top if that it says "make offer" so again, they may be thinking that the price is out there. I'm fine with the way the bass is now. It could use some help first in the fret board buzz department before worrying about getting an out of phase tone that I'm not likely to use anyway.
