You guys are killing me. Actually she had started seeing a rival band's bass player. I put him in the hospital when his face fell right against my closed fist. But the joke was on me because I broke a bone in my wrist that never healed until years later I had bone graft surgery.
Had to play for 6 months with a plaster cast on my right wrist, gigging four to seven nights a week.

That aside, I worked in a 'band' for a short time in which the bass player's wife (I was on lead chores) ran off with the steel player while we were on a 2 week break from a house gig. Made the 1st night back fairly interesting if not entertaining.

Dang I miss the $$$ from that gig.

Yeah, that was the old days. To be honest, I got clean and sober at 36 years of age so that kind of behaviour (very) slowly faded. Finally, for the last ten years life has been a crazy blessing, an unbelievable adventure.

That tube looks like it would produce a pretty compressed sound. The image gives the illusion that the top is melted flat.

Ampeg will tell you to return the amp. If you have a spare, I'd try it.

There's a GC close that had a 12AX7. Swapped them out, amp is working properly it seems. No weird noises.
Except excellent gritty dirt...

I did register the amp and sent an email to them with a bit of info

Classic indication of a vacuum loss inside the envelope. Defective tube (probably pin seal) unless there is evidence of breakage of the envelope itself. This is usually covered under manufacturer's warranty (if a new amp).

My guess is the vacuum loss, doesn't visually appear to have an issue other than the magic smoke
