Get off my LAWN! "Grumpy Old Farts"

I've been to Canada four times for fishing trips. If AK skeeters are anything like Canada they will carry off small children.
The company I drove for had a small terminal next to a swamp on the outskirts of Ft. Myers, FL. A Skeeter landed there by the fuel island and the pump jockey put 30 gallons of diesel in it b4 he realized what it was.

Does this mean lots more mosquitos?

How are we supposed to be grumpy with such photos in our presence?

Edit to add we!
It was Sunday, and I was having a good day. My architect finished her work Friday. My niece took the paper work to city hall this afternoon, only to find out that they close on Monday afternoons. Gotta love France.

Fortunately they have a few things to help ease your pain there. Like truffles, escargot, and very very good reds.

If you want to read more on the travails of moving to France, check out Allistair Dabbs' musings. El Reg is one place to find him....

Does the architect email the documents to you for approval?

With summer hours, I suppose that accepting digital submissions at the Hôtel de Ville is expecting too much.

Lots of PDFs going back and forth. My niece, from whom I'm buying the property, has been super helpful. Would have been impossible in the days before Autocad.

If any of you have an hour and don't mind French, this is a really cool video of the Arcachon region prepared for a French TV series called "Les Carnets de Julie" (Julie's Notebooks).

Yesterday, I almost told a young child on her tricycle to "GET OFF MY SIDEWALK!!!" This is a new sidewalk that was poured last Monday and I was watering it to help in the curing process.

by way of nothing, except it's French and concerns Julie

Julie, or the New Heloise made Jean-Jacques Rousseau an 18th century literary rock star. Pretty hawt stuff — they couldn't print enough editions fast enough.

I pass on French opera though. :: smh :: Italian opera  Hey weekend art house film goers — I know you're out there! Ever see Ingmar Bergman's Magic Flute?

Stopping short of executing a GOF action is simply not acceptable, mister! You get half credit for at least thinking about it.

Since "Bassin" is in the title, is this about someone named Julie playing bass on a song call "Les Carnets"? I could be wrong. :D

Why, yes, yes I have! T'was a long time ago, though.

The closeups are so close, Tamino's fillings are clearly visible :roflmao: Considering Cries and Whispers, Magic Flute is pretty uplifting for Bergman  Well. Considering Cries and Whispers and just about everything else in his vault.

I recall an interview with Liv Ullmann. She said when she was married to Bergman he would tell her his dreams at breakfast. And she'd think to herself, ohgawd he's going to make me act this.

When I was 12 or 13 the neighbors behind us had a large concrete patio* poured outside their kitchen door at the beginning of Summer. The next morning Mom let the cat in when she went to get the milk off the back porch. He clicked when he walked across the kitchen floor. Mom picked him up and had a look. Then, still in her robe and slippers, she carried him with her down to the neighbor's house and had a look at the patio. Little cat prints all over it. Had to be redone. Cat got a bath as a reward. Mom was mortified.

* The following year the patio was enclosed by a two-car garage.

A very different life. Slower, more relaxed.
