We use Firefox for the browser. Hoping that isolates us a little from the MS, Google, Apple world data collection to some extent. Of course we use Google for search so there's that. Then there are a couple of forums (like this one) and who knows what happens with that stuff. Then cr card usage, then cameras everywhere. Ah, never mind... Once you've had a complete phy exam at the doc's office your privacy is pretty much gone anyway. :laugh:

"Brave" browser is a non-profit open source browser that only asks at install if you wish to contribute. Then if you add DuckDuckGo as your search engine it will use the Google search engine but strip out all your personal information that Google collects from every query.

I also have added uBlock Origin add-on to my browser as it stops much of the ads displayed on most of the webpages nowadays. You always have the option to "whitelist" a page if you need to see the ads. I've noticed that on some contests (HGTV Home Giveaway) if you have an ad blocker on it will not permit you to register because it uses pop-ups to move you forward. Thus to play you have to endure the pestering ads. Oh well might be worth it if I win the home (and Clint Eastwood walks into my office with a mocha for me :laugh:).

I don't sign in unless I get something from the MS Store or use support. Windows update will work without being signed in to MS.

Added Privacy Possum to Firefox on Sunday. This is the complete description of its function:

"Privacy Possum monkey wrenches common commercial tracking methods by reducing and falsifying the data gathered by tracking companies."​

Ah so, a bit more clearly — high winds and off she went from a hundred meters or so below the summit. British press has a field day because she left her family without a mum. That's an entirely different standard that doesn't even apply to — you get where I'm coming from. :)

It was sad to see Jack the dog on a leash in the forest today. He’s such a gentle soul that enjoys roaming and running and playing in the woods with his dog friends. He was attacked by another dog and got into a fight. Jack won. He’s the biggest great dane that I’ve ever seen. Unfortunately, the owner of the bad dog that started it complained.

Same setup here. I don't mind ads so much if they are on the sidebar and not too intrusive but seems like many of them are right in the middle of what you are reading usually with an annoying video. I have autoplay video OFF in Firefox but it doesn't catch all of them. Then there are the sites that have a completely unrelated video article right in the middle. Live Science - are you listening? Great website but STOP IT!

I usually start the internet day with Go Comics. They have figured out a way to turn off the ad blocker but I can turn it on and it will stay on until the browser is closed. I could even live with that if the page would load smoothly. Instead, the screen jumps around while the page and ads load. It takes a few seconds for all that to happen. Man, I don't have the time to wait around for that. That cuts into my internet time. :laugh:

Ditto.

Firefox has the reader view that works on a lot of websites that don't allow ad block or have a pay wall. You can usually read the main article and view any pics but ancillary stuff may not show. Some websites have figured out how to turn that off, too. Tell you what guys - why don't you just come to my house and plant a big freaking video screen in my front yard and play your ads 24/7. :sour:

I know these companies have to make money and ads drive some of that but geez, stop forcing this stuff on me! :rollno:

That's a fairly common case on Judge Judy. Someone doesn't control their dog and somehow it's the other person's fault. Judy sorts that out pretty quick. :laugh:
