What the heck. Since I'm hauling butt Wednesday, might as well change my location to my new home.

I love the pierogi as well...potato, pork, kraut, you name it.I liked much of that food that relatives made till I found out what was in it. Stores seem to have lost the technique for making cabbage and onion pierogi. Don’t want them made in a factory, they ain’t the same.
At one time, Chicago was the second largest Polish city in the world. Polish markets everywhere. Polish women made up a large part of the original Motorola work force, assembling after-market radios for cars in the '30s. Lots of Ukrainians living among them. I should know. I married one. First of 3 ex's.I love the pierogi as well...potato, pork, kraut, you name it.
We went to Hamtramck to visit a niece that lived there a couple of years ago and pick up on some authentic Polish fare. I love the way those stores smelled of garlic and other sausage ingredients.
The neighborhood has morphed into Polish/Arabic mix these days.
So, Wednesday is 'IT' for you? What an adventure. What the heck. Since I'm hauling butt Wednesday, might as well change my location to my new home.
Yup. Starts now. 5 day drive to Chicago. Hanging loose waiting for my appointment. Praying that I get my passport and visa back by 10 August, so I can take advantage of my brother and his wife flying back to France for a wedding on the 14th that was delayed by the pandemic. I need 3 peeps total to get my 3 small dogs on the plane. So, Wednesday is 'IT' for you? What an adventure.
Popeyes will fry you up chicken livers if you ask. Not on the menu.
Beef liver fried with onions. Delicious and good for you.
I'll savor well-prepared liver cubes and pass on the brussels sprouts, no matter how it is prepared...
Try the liver dish at Anatolia Cafe.

Too warm to put it on this morning. You wouldn't be wearing a beret, would you?

Sacre bleu!I just LOVE the French tilt you GOFs have gone off on this fine morning! I woke up to an email from my French visa guy in London that the system just opened up in the U.S. and he secured the earliest visa application appointment slot for me. Woo hoo! But it is French, so the earliest available was on 28 July. Took it!
Looks like someone missed the toilet.
Being Polish immigrants, my folks used to go to the stores in the Polish neighborhood of Hamtramck in Detroit and bring some of those old world goodies home in the 1950s and 60s. The smell of Kiszka or Flaczki (tripe) cooking in the frying pan triggered a gag reflex in me. NO WAY I would have eaten that. They also brought home head cheese, cow's tongue, both of which I liked until I realized what they were.
I used to like chorizo until I read the package label. Yes, there are different versions but I have trouble getting over the label I read.
OK, so you're moving from the states to France? Cool! I was thinking it was the other way around.Yup. Starts now. 5 day drive to Chicago. Hanging loose waiting for my appointment. Boy, there are some real worldly types on this forum. I have only ventured to Canada (Montreal was the furthest from Detroit area) and Nogales, Mexico which I am told is not really "Mexico" except for the things that you can get away with that you couldn't in the states. I've always felt safe here after hearing what can happen to you in a foreign country. Don't know that it will ever happen...some regret in that.
Same as last week. I’m off to the market for fresh peas and peppers. I’ll look for yellow or green beans but it might be too early. Best to enjoy them while you can.
Going to be a scorcher today.
Glade, or a similar air freshener, should take care of that.Sourdough bread French toast this morning. Coffee in French press is steeping.
There's a certain je ne sais quoi in the air.

How about czarnina? My mom made it as well as the other dishes mentioned, as my grandma taught all the girls to do. Ya, my kin knew how to use the whole animal.Looks like someone missed the toilet.
