Got a new phone today. 3G network goes away in Feb '22 so they sent me a new flip phone for free. Glad I held off on buying they $1200 phone! Anyways, it's okay, it's a phone but it was irritating trying to set it up. The quick start guide had nothing about putting the battery in it and it wasn't real obvious how to open it up. So got that done. Turn it on and start the setup stuff. It wants to connect to wifi - nope don't want that. Then says it has an update for the KaiOS. Click that and the phone locks up. Turn it off and on. Get the same update message. Click skip. Phone locks up. Power button does nothing. Called support. While waiting in the call queue started pressing random buttons and it went past the update and seems to be okay now. Apparently the update comes over the internet and not the cell network. Looks like there is no way to transfer contacts from the old phone (Samsung) to the new phone. Two different OS. Still digging around, might find something, maybe support will be helpful - ah, I crack myself up!
KaiOS. I have a phone for emerging markets which in my case must be the GOF segment.
