Get off my LAWN! "Grumpy Old Farts"

Got a new phone today. 3G network goes away in Feb '22 so they sent me a new flip phone for free. Glad I held off on buying they $1200 phone! Anyways, it's okay, it's a phone but it was irritating trying to set it up. The quick start guide had nothing about putting the battery in it and it wasn't real obvious how to open it up. So got that done. Turn it on and start the setup stuff. It wants to connect to wifi - nope don't want that. Then says it has an update for the KaiOS. Click that and the phone locks up. Turn it off and on. Get the same update message. Click skip. Phone locks up. Power button does nothing. Called support. While waiting in the call queue started pressing random buttons and it went past the update and seems to be okay now. Apparently the update comes over the internet and not the cell network. Looks like there is no way to transfer contacts from the old phone (Samsung) to the new phone. Two different OS. Still digging around, might find something, maybe support will be helpful - ah, I crack myself up! :laugh:

KaiOS. I have a phone for emerging markets which in my case must be the GOF segment. :laugh:

Some phones require wifi rather than the cell network to update. They also may have to be connected to a charger while updating. It makes it more stable. If it dies during an update, you might have to take your phone in for service to get it going again.

Unless you have unlimited cell phone minutes, best to keep the phone on wifi while at home. It won’t use cell minutes. Unless of course you have limits on your wifi time, then go with whichever costs less.

My plan is unlimited minutes and text, no limits on wifi/internet. I don't have a problem with connecting to the wifi for updates but I don't want it connected all the time.

I found a way to import the contacts. Save the old phone contacts as CSV or VCF, import to google contacts, import from google to the new phone. Didn't really want to run through google but looks like that's the only option.

KaiOS has or had vulnerability problems. My version seems to be past some of the major ones. I won't be using it for internet access, email, or any apps so the vulnerabilities don't worry me too much.

Mushrooms are one of my desert island foods.

Lion's mane is alleged to be very good for you. Most things are, short of bleach.

I find Lion's Mane is best prepared by browning in a dry skillet. Then add the butter. Lion's mane has the tendency to absorb butter like eggplant absorbs olive oil. The mushroom is quite flavourful. Methinks it would pair better with a light main course. Lamb is a little too strong. Veal would work. It'd go brilliantly with veal scallops. Or veal Milanese.

I recall reading an article that said that Geddy's neck is not the same one that comes with his Geddy Lee bass. He has the custom shop make his to a different spec. I think that the finish was one difference, he has an oiled neck. Maybe the USA one nails his better but the others aren't the same. Or so I understand.

Looks nice and fresh. I used to get amazing tasting mushrooms from an old farmer at the market. Good texture with a strong nut like taste. The farmer has long departed and it’s rare that I can find anything that matches what he grew. His garden to my table in a matter of hours. A lot of products look good but just don’t have the quality of taste.

The mex and japanese are thin C profiles and require more truss rod maintenance than I am signing up for, plus the neck is kinda too little. The MIA Geddy neck and, well, any USA jazz neck fits my hand better.
This guy can absolutely rock that skinny little neck. It looks to me like he has kinda short fat fingers tho. My left hand cramped when I played the lower register for a while.(back in the good old days when GC had a couple of basses on the wall)

Yessir, that's correct. I think the little neck would be better with a 7.5" radius...
