Today is July 2, 2021. 245 years ago on this day, the Continental Congress approved the adoption of the Declaration of Independence. July 4, marks the day when the first signature (i.e., John Hancock) was affixed. The majority of the signers didn’t sign the Declaration until August.

Given that today has special significance in the history of the U.S., which shows did the History Channel run?

Did they run any shows regarding the Declaration itself? No.
Did they run any shows regarding the War for Independence? No.
Did they run any shows about the events leading up to the adoption of the Declaration? No.

The History Channel ran an all day marathon of Ancient Aliens. Evidently, tales of Area 51 or Little Green Men bring in more advertising dollars than covering true, historical events.

In my mind, A&E should change the name of the History Channel to to “We Don’t Care What We Broadcast As Long As We Can Squeeze More Dollars Out Of Crap That Pays Better Channel”

As everyone can easily see, I truly am a GOF and probably a crotchety old curmudgeon as well. Sorry if anyone is offended.

Along the same lines, the American Heroes Channel, owned by Discovery I believe, fills a large chunk of it's programming with shows about Hitler, nazis, Mussolini and Stalin. What up wit dat?

Depends. I used a mobile groomer in Flagstaff for 8 years. I told her at the beginning to charge me what she would be happy with. No tipping. She charged me 60 US spacebucks. The last few "homeless" months (sold my house; living in VRBOs, waiting for my visa), I used a grooming shop in Prescott. $40 for a passable job. I still tipped her $10, 'cause she didn't get to keep the whole 40. Peeps gotta pay their bills.

It never occurred to me to take my dog to a groomer back then. He had a bath at home like everyone else. A trim, blow dry, and nail clipping wasn’t difficult although I did have to buy some tools. Next in line for haircuts was my wife.

They changed from WWII all the time, to actual historical and interesting stuff for awhile, then a hodgepodge of aliens, reality stuff (please - forged in fire, swamp people, et al, is not history), JFK conspiracies (enough already!). I read the Stephen King book "11/22/63" and watched the mini-series. I don't need to know anything else.

Modern Marvels reruns started a couple of months ago along with a new version. The first few episodes were all food with Adam Richman as host. It's starting again this month and it's not about food! Adam Richman is the host. Curious to see how he does with topics that aren't food.

The kid was relief pitcher today, pitched 4 innings, gave up two runs on errors, 3 hits, 2 walks, 2 pickoffs at 1st and a double play. Sadly, the starting pitcher gave up 6 runs and the closer gave up 3 more. Loss 11 to 5.

I saw a sign on someone’s door today, “Pet Alert, in the event of a fire please save our cats.” A clear invitation to break in.

It’s like those Baby On Board signs on the back of vehicles. If I don’t see the baby am I to assume that it slipped under the seat and I should smash the window to rescue the kid?
