Same here. Sold my 1800 sq. ft. townhouse in Flagstaff. Building a 900 sq. ft. house in France. Been living in furnished vacation rentals the last 6 months, waiting for my visa. I only shipped 31 cu. ft. of personal items. I can fit everything I kept to get me there into the back of my Subie Forester. When I finally leave for the airport, most of that will go in a dumpster.

I'm a lean, mean, (former) fighting machine! :D
I’ve been following your journey posts. The best to you!

Another link. We went to Beaver Island a couple of years ago.

Protar's House

I have a good friend in AR that has built several log cabins. Here are a few pics. Pics 5 and 6 are a small one he built for someone. Pic 9 and on is his own cabin he built in north central AR. It has since been completed. Pretty nice. Running water (tank/pump), indoor plumbing, and electricity. He has to haul water from a nearby spring to the 500 gal tank. Let's just say you need a high clearance vehicle to get to the cabin.

Wattle and daub for the true experience of European medieval poverty ....
Is that Old English for Harold and Maude?
Funny. If you had zoomed in on the radar, I would be able to see my house.

I live about 16 miles to the east of Lake Michigan...Just above the two "LL's" in the word Holland.....
Ah, the home of Charles Limbert, and some family members of Don Oatman (LDS cabs).

We would like to see someone go back to visit the tiny housers 6-12 months later and see what they think assuming they haven't killed each other. lol.
I evacuated for hurricane Laura and stayed in a tiny house. I think it was about 12x24. There were four adults, two small dogs, and three cats living (existing) there. My living room is that big. I spent as much time as possible outside, although, I was grateful at the time to have a place to stay.

Tiny houses seem to me like living on a boat without the constant motion, even when at harbor. Neither living arrangement is to my taste. Far as I know, my sea legs are still good. Last seasickness has to be circa '70 - 74ish, when it is I sent below deck to make sandwiches. With mayonnaise. As I watch the sea on a lee side porthole of the sloop. :vomit:

.
Been since about summer of '74 for my first, and last, bout of seasickness. Got "a real man's job" working offshore surveying. It was a very calm evening, the sea was flat, work was exhilarating. I was offered my first "chaw of tabacky" (by cracky!). Sure! Why not? Well, the sun finally went down, still calm seas, but it was a moonless night and, shore 'nuff, I lost sight of the horizon. Soon, I was "feeding the fish" my dinner!! I never did have a second "chaw". YMMV.

I made sure to get top grades in electronics school in the Coast Guard in order to get first pick of duty stations. It was my intent to NOT get assigned to a ship and I succeeded. I wouldn't mind a short trip on a sail boat as a civilian... :)
Two 6 month cruises in 66/67. No real seasickness problems(fumes in hot, stale air got to me once). 'Course I was on carriers-they don't rock much.:)

My boss at mumble mumble when my Leica was (almost) a trade refused to ever board another boat or helicopter. He was very clear on this point as he gave me a very, very small accounting of his time as a special forces colonel with four tours in that place @GonePlaid (presumably) sailed near. My ID from that period is wholly useless but as a keepsake, even with no expiration date.

Low key day. Played my bass. By cracky this cat bass is the bees' knees. I'm digging the Balanced Nickels like no roundwound I can recall. Onct upona taim I was all about Dean Markley Super Rounds. Hillbilly marketing for a string that was a longer lasting Swingbass 66 without the cheese grater. IMO.

At night we could see flashes of light from that place we sailed near. Sometimes it was lightning...
