Get off my LAWN! "Grumpy Old Farts"

Two 9 month cruises 08/10 on the USS Abraham Lincoln and no sea sickness here but a whole lot of time in my fanroom with my Spector!
Ah, yes. Mine were Yorktown-CV(S)-10, and Enterprise-CVA(N)-65. Yorktown's a museum in Charleston, SC; Enterprise is being cut up. :bawl:
Got to take my family aboard Yorktown ~34 years after I'd last seen her. Interestingly, during that time they'd gone to the trouble of making the passageways narrower and the 'ladders' steeper.;)

I think that I’ll pass on this ink risotto breakfast.

Risotto al nero di seppia
is extremely rich (and delicious!), and never saw it served like that in Milan. What I did observe is squid ink looks the same coming and going.

Did you notice that it does not show anyone actually putting it in their mouth?

Japanese like eggs in everything, raw isn’t unusual. They say that it makes it creamy. Udon is soup with noodles, runny egg mixed in. Fried rice always has cooked egg in it.

My grandfather used to down raw eggs in milk for breakfast. He lived to a ripe old age.

If squid is chewy, it's been overcooked. It can be made (a little more) tender with a great deal more cooking. Best idea is don't overcook your squid. And it's done so often people have come to believe eating crispy fried rubber bands is normal. :rollno: There's an Italian restaurant local to me that prepares calamar beautifully. They make it with tarragon, which I find delightful.

I kind of don't like eggs. But woke Friday and said I need breakfast! First item on the 55+ menu is a two egg omelette. Cheese and sausage is how it's done, with a pot of coffee to put myself back upright. And what, today?

Today I wake with my second "missed my flight" dream still fresh. Well. Ain't gonna miss this flight. There was a colourful metaphor to describe just how much I'm not going to miss that flight. Even typed it out in the memory of hearing my mother say it. And suddenly wondered if that phrase is in poor taste here in 2021. All I'll say is the phrase has to do with tea.

I take my tea with cream. Didn't used to. I take my coffee with cream. Didn't used to. Every single day, arrive at work in NYC with the El Mondo Grosso size cup from the Au Bon Pain on the ground floor. Very much doubt my body will tolerate that kind of dose today.

Rich dishes are more and more off my list, too. The most obscenely rich dish I ever eated was in New Orleans when I was doing the demo dolly bit at a trade show. I'm certain it had crawdads in it. And cream? Butter, probably, I don't recall. I recall being overwhelmed by it later ....

Being on a restricted diet makes you crave things that you normally don’t eat. Your body seems to know what it needs.

I once saw raw tea being graded and selected for blending in a London company. They brew rows of cups, the tasters always had milk in their tea. It seemed odd but that how they did it. I take my tea plain without milk or sugar, never tasted coffee.

Hmm. Let's see. It was in The South, specifically N'Awlins, so prolly butter(lots)and cream(heavy), salt, cayenne, Tabasco TM(unless you added that yourself), and likely some other secret 'spices'.

.
Been since about summer of '74 for my first, and last, bout of seasickness. Got "a real man's job" working offshore surveying. It was a very calm evening, the sea was flat, work was exhilarating. I was offered my first "chaw of tabacky" (by cracky!). Sure! Why not? Well, the sun finally went down, still calm seas, but it was a moonless night and, shore 'nuff, I lost sight of the horizon. Soon, I was "feeding the fish" my dinner!! I never did have a second "chaw". YMMV.
.

I chewed tabacky once...once.

How about some tough duck?

Hmmm....crawfish etouffee. Just the tails by the way.

Earl Grey with or without honey. The Breville espresso machine works great for tea. Pull the string off the bag, put the bag in the single shot cup, run two cycles - perfect!
