Get off my LAWN! "Grumpy Old Farts"

Learn to love/like/tolerate liver. As with all things, some are better than others.
Or you can spend good money on my friend's specialty, foie gras. He's currently executive chef at a new French restaurant in Chicago, Marchesa. He grew up in Bergerac, which explains his specialty. He now offers a chicken liver paté, which is ABFAB! When he had his own bistro-style restaurant on Clark (Cyrano's) for 20 years, he usually had an appetizer with 3 different house-made patés. I always started with that.
You'll find something that works for you.
Just watch out for those f'ing iron pills. :poop: NOT

It's not called foie gras, but one can get almost the same thing sometimes in the better supermarkets. I can get a small container of darn good chopped liver in local NJ supermarkets such as Shop-Rite and Stop+Shop... Tain't French, but it's tasty, and better IMO than iron pills...

I had a "friend" tell me the summer after I graduated high school he could get us jobs working in a carnival. Yeah, I'll get back to you on that... And another "friend" the next summer say he could get me and another guy jobs waiting tables at TGI Fridays in Memphis. Yeah, I'll get back to you on that...
Great town, Memphis... Especially during their annual Blues Competition Festival!

I prefer the German version - Braunschweiger. A thick slice with a slice of white onion on salt rye and I’m in Heaven.

I'm so here right now

yeah poured myself a lemonade. Most relieved I've been in a week

Right now, while downing the last of the prep, mine feels more like

Foie gras? I thought it was faux pas. Oh, well, learn something new every day.

We used to go to Memphis pretty often in the mid to late 70s. Usually ate at Fridays in Overton Square. Went to concerts at the Midsouth Colosseum or Cook Convention Center. Saw the Eagles twice. Ticket prices were outrageous at $4 and $7. lol. BTO, Point Blank, Eric Clapton/Santa, Dave Mason, Beach Boys, Andrew Gold. Might be a few others. Let's just say that period of time was a little hazy on occasion. ;)

Stumbled across this site. Pretty cool.

MeTV, helping nursing home residents hold on to that one last piece of Gomer Pyle until bedtime.

Ah yes, liverwurst, all kinds of things in there. What's with me now is a packed knapsack, and there's no liverwurst inside. It's an open road to the Braunschweiger Internationale Aéroport.

La mask is in a pocket of this utility skirt. Expect I'll be wearing it for some good while today. And tomorrow.

Pictures or it didn't happen, yes? Stay posted

Viva la France
too bad about French beer but we'll survive, somehow.

MeTV has been providing The Addams Family for us recently.
Still getting a chuckle now and then.

When in Memphis...

1) Must eat at Charlie Vergos' Rendezvous! (The Rendezvous)

2) Must stay at the Peabody! (Peabody Ducks | Memphis Attractions | Peabody Hotel Memphis)

That photo reminded me of a long forgotten piece of Texas history. In 1896, a temporary town was set up to stage a locomotive crash. It was called "Crush" after the man who staged the event, William Crush. (not associated with the orange soda)

Here is the Wikipedia account: Crash at Crush - Wikipedia

Two people were killed and several injured when the boilers exploded after the crash. What is no mentioned in the story, is that Crush was warned by railroad mechanics, in Cleburne, Texas, that what happened would happen. (Unable to locate the citation), but officials with the railroad assured him that it was safe.

The "Crash at Crush" was only a few miles from West, Texas, which was the site of a fertilizer plant explosion in April 2013.

Not sure why my mind wandered into these events.

Me neither, but remind me to stay away from that area.

Update: survived(obviously)the prep-whatever taste they were going for, they missed-and the procedure. Didn't go to eat as I have in the past. Came home and napped. Too much fun.:rollno:
