I truly dig early Chicago tunes. I may have related this snippet before:
Already several years ago I was on a family outing at Six Flags Gurney Ill. At the end of our day we were headed to the car and passed by several booths, stands, whatnot. On one small bandstand was a group between tunes, featuring three lovely young ladies in ankle length gowns, two holding tbones and the other a trumpet. I slowed down and stopped.
Mrs markwrob said, "Why are you stopped, c'mon let's get to the car."
I replied, "Hang on a minute, I hafta see if these gals are window dressing or what."
Well, the group ripped into the best version of Does Anybody Really Know What Time it Is that I've heard since the CTA album, and the horn section was packin! They swung hard and I walked to the car with a huge smile on my face.
