Ken, have you checked Carvin speakers? I've never heard them, but they are pretty full range. Not very expensive. Most of those who have them here on TB seem to like them. Of course there is that human instinct to go into denial if yer junk suxI really like their specs and pricing, but you have to buy sight unseen and return if you don't want to keep, so that is not so good for many. Good reviews by owners, hated by non-owners. No personal experience here, maybe @BassmanPaul can opine? I'm a hack, so don't listen to me
I have a gripe too. I'm scheduled for hip surgery in a few days and as part of the prep I had to stop taking the once a day low dose aspirin I've been on for years. Apparently that low dose was enough to suppress numerous joint aches and pains cuz every joint that's had problems in the past is giving me trouble now. Makes me feel like a GOF.

I don’t really have a huge experience of Carvin drivers. The 15” ones in my PA cabinets have been flawless. Same for the 10” in my Carvin vocal monitor. I used the PS10 in two other Vocal monitors I built and they too have been fine. Another pair of PS10s went into a 2x10 cabinet I put together and they handled my B string surprisingly well.

Thanks Paul. It's basically just a arthroscopic maintenance procedure to fix some cartilage and remove some bone spurs. Pretty minor compared to the hell that some of you have been through lately. Worst thing is the recovery will cut into the start of cycling season and I'll have to have the same thing done on the other hip sooner than later. I'm hoping I can put it off until I'm on Medicare in the fall. I'm also footing the bill for a stem cell treatment (not covered by insurance) as part of the procedure that will hopefully grow some new cartilage to forego the need for hip replacement later. This aging stuff ain't for sissies.

My golden years turned into rusty years. I wish there were a Stem Cell treatment to get the Pancreas going again. I'm sick to death of Diabetes!!!
I guess they've been doing successful stem cell treatments for orthopedic stuff for a while now. There's a lot of research into other stem cell treatments going on and I'd bet that treating Diabetes is high on the list.
Cheers to spank for your family's resiliency. I can relate with many stories from the big one in San Francisco. I was working on a cabinet making gig in a house at the beach which happens to be on a small parallel fault line south of SF in Moss Beach and the short version is when the dust settled and we cleaned our drawers there was foot wide crack in the road in front of the house. The house we were working on had literally moved 2 inches north of its original location! A TWO STORY HOUSE.
My sadness is with a close guitarist buddy who is in a personnel hell he can't seem to shake. A contentious divorce forced him into living with his 84 yr old mother, a stroke put her into a facility, chronic decent into alcohol abuse followed by 2 recent ( luckily halfhearted unsuccessful) suicide attempts have him reeling. I can't get him to come to an AA meeting with me. When straight briefly he's lucid and sensible. Then when alone he drinks and goes to a dark place where I can't reach him. He has no other real family to intervene. I have accepted that I can't do much to help when he wont really reach out for help. I know all about "high bottom, and low bottoms" in regards to adiction, I'm thankful I made a change before I got anywhere near where he's at. My son committed suicide and I was headed for that dark place but something pulled me back and I sought help. Perhaps a few prayers sent out to the universe will help. God bless you all and be well. My breaks about over gotta go back in to my gig and sing the blues. Haha

Yeah, I moved from San Francisco 2 years before the big one. I lost a friend and great singer and actor who died in that one from a coke induced heart attack. I also lost another friend last year who couldn't stay sober. Sometimes staying sober is like being in a war zone with the casualties of the disease.
For what it's worth, the last aftershock was 24 hours ago. But the ten days of aftershocks shaking has caused cracks (basically cosmetic) to appear in the walls of every room. The house is constructed of reinforced concrete columns and beams with block walls. Only 5 years old. I guess we'll just deal with it one room at a time.
I'm still grateful that we survived with just some bruises and some cracked walls.

Beautiful, warm weather all weekend. Had a bunch of stuff to do yesterday and my blood sugar dropped out. Got it back up and my arms felt like lead. So I did nothing all day except take out the trash. 65 degrees and sunny. Grrrrrrrr.

I'm scheduled for my "minor" hip surgery tomorrow and today I discovered something that makes me wonder just how minor it's gonna be. I picked up the prescription that the surgeon said to fill prior to surgery and it's for 40 (!!!) Norco pain killers with the instructions to "Take 1 or 2 every 4 to 6 hours for pain"! That could be as many as 16 in a day! I sure hope I don't need that much pain medication. Knowing how I react to that stuff, I may be in a drooling stupor for the next week.
BTW, if I post anything that's even stupider than usual over the next few days, please ignore it. If it's really bad, ask the mods to remove it, ok?

I already decided that when they ask me if I've had anything to eat or drink since midnight, I'm going to reply "No, and I did the heavy duty laxatives and enemas, so I'm all cleaned out and ready for my colonoscopy!". It's being done in an orthopedic surgery center, so I'm looking forward to their reactions.

Find out the longevity of the hip replacement. Wife's friend needs another hip replacement because she had one 20 years ago and the part is wearing out. Also, seeing lots of law suits for hip surgeries on TV late nights nowadays.
Thanks, but I'm not having a hip replaced, just fixing some torn cartilage. I doubt that I'll last another 20 years anyway, but at least my new tattoos will still look good when I die.
