Thanks, but I'm not having a hip replaced, just fixing some torn cartilage. I doubt that I'll last another 20 years anyway, but at least my new tattoos will still look good when I die.

Made it through the hip surgery today without a hitch and it doesn't feel all that bad. I probably still have some lingering effects from the drugs they gave me today, so we'll see how it is in the morning. So far better than expected.

For the most part things are back to normal. Several bridges are damaged, but here they just let one lane go across at a time. When I'm behind a large truck when crossing we just laugh and pray a little. That's the Filipino way.
Good to hear things are getting back to normal there, or at least the normal we have come to love in the Phils. It wouldn't really be the PI if every bridge you crossed came with confidence of crossing safely 
I remember my first drive across Luzon to the Bicol regeion like it was yesterday. After passing through Quezon, we were on National Highway when traffic came to a stop. After seemingly hours of idling and creeping forward 40 or 50 ft at a time, we made it to the obstruction; a boulder the size of a large truck had rolled off the mountain and covered both lanes. Maybe 4 or 5 men were on it, chipping away at it with hammers and chissels and another was directing traffic around it on the crumbly looking shoulder. We stayed in Bicol for about a week. When we returned the wait at the obstruction was maybe half as long. Once we reached the boulder, it was only covering one lane and the were a couple of men directing East bound traffic onto the shoulder and West bound traffic into the open lane. They had chisseled the rock down to only cover one lane in th week or so we spent noodeling around Bicol! Pinoy Power! If I ever run across the pics I took, I'll have to scan and post one. Amazing!

Baddy, I can see you "get it" when it comes to the challenges of living here. Every day I get to say "Wow, I ain't never seen that before!". Or am faced with a challenge of some kind that needs a solution. It really keeps me going, keeps me young. It also helps that my wife and sixteen year old daughter are on board.
But this life sure isn't for everyone. There are many expats here who I know who complain about the same things that I find interesting, curious, or damn funny.

Spanky/Baddy, the ones that complain are the angry and sad ones... living in a paradise they never see. And it doesn't matter where one lives, it is always attitude... any place can be your or another's interesting/curious/funny great life. Sadly, most humans seem to seek out aggravation/anger/greed due to desire and expectations. But let's not dwell on the negative.

Thanks, I really do like it here, despite the fact that we just had a 5.9 "aftershock" two days ago that further damaged our house. We are okay and the house can be repaired.
Not too far away from here is a small three story hotel on the top of a hill that is now leaning at a thirty degree angle as it looks like the hill and foundation are slipping.

In the middle of all this action I'm trying to finish three tunes that I am working on for the little record label I'm hooked up with. It's all good.

Sometimes I feel like coming here is like visiting some old friends in a garage, then the wife comes out and tells us we're making too much noise!
I hope everyone is well. My Blood Sugar count went down. Still a struggle at 65 to take the pounds off. Funny, 20 years ago it was no effort at all....
