Nope, my brother researched it pretty seriously when he was in The Netherlands in the sixties. Maurits was Dutch and my family is German-Swiss back to at least the 12th century. But I've been known to tell people I taught him everything he knew.

An oldie, but goodie...

Took a taxi out of the Brussels airport. The driver blasted through a red light, and then another. On approach to a green light, he slammed on the brakes. I asked him what the hey-ho, and he said "You think I'm stupid? My brother, he drives a taxi, too!"

Perhaps he didn't like that shade of red

m.c. escher (all lower case!) was one special dude. Right up there with Ansel Adams. Different medium. Same otherworldly skill!

For those following the saga, after a long day of trying to cure an electrical gremlin, I got the bari sax out, put on a reed, and tried it out. Felt weird with my new dentures, but after a very few moments 'playing' it, I have come to the conclusion that while I still suck, the horn all works and sounds great.
No, wait.
For years when I played the saxes regularly, I always said my tone isn't good but my technique sucks.
Seriously, I'm gonna woodshed it some and see if I can get back up to mediocre.

We had a few of those at the old studio, along with other 300 Series Ampexes, and 400 Series and an ATR-100. All got just about daily use.
