At snooty establishments, patrons bring in their own Laguiole knives. I'm like that with pepper, I prefer freshly ground.
The almond croissants are very nice this mourning, as usual.

My dear old grandaddy always carried, and almost constantly used, the folding Buck knife his daddy got him as a kid. He never touched any other knife at meals, no matter where he was. It cleaned his hunting prey, whittled sticks into tools (or switches), filled in as screwdriver and hammer, and could still always shave off the thinnest slice of the 'critter du jour' to treat his constant companion (ol' Blue, was the last one). Last I saw it, a cousin had inherited it with just a virtual toothpick of a blade left. Well done, good and faithful servant!

always been so. Kitchen knifes excepted. And now ultra-careful with sharp objects now that I'm on blood thinners. Just bumping into things means a hematoma. If the hematoma is on my hand or wrist, I look (more) like a GOF for a week or so

I remember that, Beanie! But, I appreciate the options that Swiss Army and/or Leatherman gives me in a compact lightweight package. Someone gave me one of these as a gift one time and I privately asked them to return it and get there money back! It's now in one of my toolboxes, still in its cardboard box!

My wife takes blood thinners as well. She has to be careful when doing certain things. I advised her to get some medical "dog tags" that would let any first responder know immediately about the blood thinners. She doesn't always take my advice.

Can I interest you in a humidifier to help prevent nose bloods; a motion sensor night light, no going bump in the night.

I'm lucky enough now to be able to get meds from the VA at very inexpensive prices. (Took several years in the military in the 50's tho...) So when the docs suggested I switch thinners from Warfarin to Eliquis (expensive) I was able to do it. It's better stuff IMO; no bruising, and no more finger sticks to check numbers! Yay!
Lucky also in that the Govt didn't do the stupid stuff they did with Medicare and limit how the agency can obtain drugs. The VA is sensibly allowed to shop and buy drugs in bulk from whichever source gives them the best prices...

I look forward to a good breakfast. Much of what is a Good Breakfast depends on where I am in time. Breakfast On The Run is way too familiar to me. So, too, is vending machine fare at o'gawd o'clock waiting for the first copies off the press.
The Leisurely Breakfast I enjoy now ranks up there with what we once termed Executive Breakfast. "EB" is the secret code to leave the building for a huge, long breakfast. Everyone returns to work feeling much better and it makes the day go ... well days go as they go with or without our permission. So EB is always a good idea in life

I'm with you on all this. Sometimes breakfast is at 1:00 in the afternoon, sometimes it's at 3 AM (less often now than when I was in my 20's) but I have always appreciated good breakfast food. Now I am thinking I might need to head down to the all-day breakfast joint near here for a decent eggs Benedict- once I finish this coffee, of course.
Really. My wife will get a bruise from simply leaning against a knob on the kitchen cabinet. This is new stuff.
She suspects from being on cortisone for a year.
