Not wanting rouse the ire of the ban monsters, but the first accessory, I installed on my first vehicle, was a gun rack. I routinely had a rifle and/ or shotgun in the rack in my pickup, that I drove to school. Going dove/deer/rabbit/squirrel hunting after school was a common practice. Nothing was ever said, or implied, that this was unacceptable. I carried a knife in a leather sheath, on my belt, everyday at school. None of these activities, were considered a threat, to others, nor was my mindset, bent in that direction. While my children were prohibited from engaging in these practices, they were raised to understand, that life is sacred, and that they should never resort to violence, towards others, except in self defense.

Works well until some of the kids break the rules

On Friday I received a tool delivery. The driver called me and said that I have to sign, can I come out on the street. Alright I said. I went out onto the sidewalk and was handed the box. With covid they don't want you to touch anything, so no actual signing. Apparently, the driver's word that they gave it to me is good enough. Didn't see a camera unless it was on the truck. I didn't authorize them capturing my image.

I am NOT an attorney, barrister, counselor, or a legal eagle!!!!!

I believe the Supreme Court has ruled that when you are outside your house and barring some sort of tall, opaque privacy fence, you do not have a reasonable expectation of privacy and, thus, you can be recorded (audio and video) without your consent. The caveat is that the person(s) doing the recording cannot use the recording for commercial gain without your permission.

But the courier may have been recording my image for their commercial gain in the event of a claim. In one case I looked up my proof of signature on their site and they had a photograph of the property address. All that proves is that they went to my address. For some reason, google street view blurs out addresses, license plates, and well as people when they record. Maybe there are some legal fine lines.

I hereby do not consent to the use of my image or likeness for any purpose. That's why on TalkBass I appear as Nipper The RCA Dog. The dog that's appeared on more records than anyone else. He's even been on tubes.

Don't know about France. Some countries make you reside there for several months before you can sign up for their medical system. They may accept your American card but that involves paperwork that they may not be willing to do. Bring cash.
I was required to provide proof that I had met very specific health insurance requirements in order to get my visa. Cost my $1900 for one year. After one year, I can apply for a residence permit rather than extending my Long Stay - Visitor visa. I'll then be able to go on the French health care system.

There are worse things. :smug:

Don't get arrested in that first year.

There was a getting back to normal We Love NY concert in central bark last night. Around 6K people were sent home seemingly because of a storm. Barry Manilow was performing mid song and they shut the concert down.

Now people are wondering, was the concert really shut down because of the storm or was it because Barry wondered onto the stage.

This, last night, from Dead & Company in Philly. The show became an extended first set. Reports are they played as long as it remained safe to play as the hurricane moved in.

I was prolly 9 yrs old…still living in the Bronx, so, maybe 8…when me Da gave me my first pocket knife.
I remember him telling me "Tommy, this is not a weapon, it's part of the way a man dresses himself." :)

Always a good day when this guy comes by
