I just got off the phone with my concert loving family in Liverpool. i was very relieved to hear that none of them attended the concert in Manchester. What sort of a mind thinks up these atrocities? Attacking a crowd of mostly defenceless children? It makes absolutely no sense to me!

As both a large venue operator as well as somebody who routinely worked in large venues 150+ days a year for over 30 years, this is something that we did ponder, lots of risks actually and most entirely preventable.

Those too cowardly to face the great British Warriors. They grab a young susceptible kid in his 20's or even teens and brainwash the kid to do it believing it is in the name of God.

Well, GOF's I thought I'd do something different here tonight-- talk about my new amp!

Wife brought home my package from the post office containing an Eden WTX-264 bass amp. Unboxing, I found it to be quite a bit heftier than my two GK MB200 and MB500's. The look was classic-- gold on black with dark brown pearl style knobs. They are made out of metal and move with fine precision like an old audiphile hi-fi amplifier. The Eden is heavier than the MB500 and taller. It feels sturdy, but to my mind it's more of an old fashioned design. All the 1/4" plugs in front, the power switch on back, the pull knobs, seem very 90's to me. In contrast, the GK's seem modern-- lightweight, 1/8" jacks in and out, so you can use headphones and plug an MP3 player in to practice in your bedroom. And the weight makes the GK's ridiculously easy to move and store.

When I plugged the Eden into one of my Eden EX110 cabs, at first I was not impressed. It wasn't until I discovered the big punchy boost you get from pulling out the "bass" knob, which acts as sort of a loudness boost. It produced such a DEEP fullness that I can't get out of my GK's. And although I went through a short learning curve, I figured out how to sweep the mids using the pull button on the mid control. Pulling the mid button you select the mid frequency, then push it back in to boost or cut that frequency. Not too bad once I figured it out. But I think the tone structure is much more versatile than I'm familiar with right now.

I thought I'd always be a GK guy and preach of their greatness whenever I can, but honestly I was knocked over by how excellent the Eden head sounded. It sounded round, full, warm, and THICK.

I'm going to make myself make a choice between keeping the Eden or the GK's. I buy too much stuff so I have to limit myself. But I gotta tell you guys, I didn't realize how nice the Edens sound! Now I understand why they cost twice as much! Decisions, decisions!

The way the locals here tell it, the president had enough of the bad guy in charge of the separatists after he masterminded the bombing of Davao some months ago. That's the city the pres.is from. The island of Mindanao is pretty huge, and the bad stuff is at the southern end. Luckily I live at the northernmost end, 500 miles away.
Pretty peaceful here (except for the damn roosters - cockfighting is the national pastime).

Mindanao is HUGE. 500 miles there might be more like 1000 or more here for travel time. It might be a PITA for you, I sure hope not, but I think best to cover the whole island. I'm afraid if they tried to partition, the baddies would just go North and find other unarmed innocent people to attack.
