AARP offers a lot of discounts for grumpy old farts. Restaurants , hotels and some businesses offer AARP discounts. They also have some pretty good deals for car and life insurance. I've been with my car insurance company since I was 16 so I get a heck of a deal with them and haven't found an AARP auto discount much help. My wife (Seahag) and I did get a pretty good deal on hotel rooms in Ocean City Md. the last couple years.Might be worth a look if you travel or eat out a lot. (Somehow , that didn't sound right.) Not sure but I think they have airline discounts too. I haven't flown in a few years so I'm not sure on this one.If nothing else , it gives you an official old fart membership card. If you don't travel or hit a lot of restaurants or fly much , it's probably not worth the $35 membership fee. Hmmmmm , I wonder if GC has an AARP discount?
If you go to concerts with your fellow Geezers, sorry, music fans, I saw where Live Nation was giving AARP discounts for 4 or more tickets.
Boy am I grumpy now! Every year I get a reminder e-mail from the TalkBass admin about renewing my Supporting Membership. Well, not this year!

Ya but that only applies to the early bird specials. Who wants to eat supper at 4 in the afternoon. And who wants to get in a line with all those old people.
I took them up on their offer of a free membership when I turned 50, but didn't renew when it came time to pay. The discounts are no better than AAA and I don't agree with their political view.
Hi all. I know I've been a bit cryptic but I come here to help with other's concerns/problems. I'm still above ground (in many ways) but things are still in flux and unsettled. I do not want to concern you all with my current dilemmas and hope they will resolve very soon. If they don't, I would have regrets leaving anyone in the middle of an equipment problem with little notice.

We have a snow storm here today. Everything is covered. Can barely see across the street. Then again, my eyesight isn't so good. Just last weekend I was thinking of getting my summer tires put on.

Hi Beans, thanks! We ended a 74 day dry spell by playing in the occasional rain a couple weeks ago. Covering equipment and praying there would be no fried equipment, could not repair or replace these days.

I'm also glad! They were supposed to be this band of ex-pros with a lady singer who play our local Hard Rock Cafe. I get there and the band is being reinvented with mostly new players. The lady singer had left and her songs had been taken over by a guy!
To show them what my voice is like, I sang a couple of SRV tunes. I was thinking that the Blues would be a common denominator for any bunch of musicians and they would hear that I can actually sing. I'm 68 and I first sang on a stage when I was five!!
They called me Monday evening telling me that the guitar player felt that I would be happier playing 12 bar Blues!!! I felt I was in the presence of a guidance counsellor. We didn't really even talk! They know absolutely nothing about me or what I've done during my career.
On top of it all I left my favourite guitar cable there!!

I used to walk a long way to school in snow storms. They never cancelled school like they do now. The school had three rooms, multiple grades in each room. Something else you don't see too much of.
