There is not enough room here so just a couple of high points. Seeing the deep diving vehicles; one tethered remote that operates on 4.8 kilovolt power at up to 16,000 feet depth and the second torpedo shaped submersible that is an autonomous programmed sonar searcher good for the same depth.
And the control room for them that makes Captain Kirk's bridge look like a penny arcade. It seems like no expense was spared outfitting the ship with high tech. Including the entire ship wired for good stereo for good music. We covered pretty much the entire ship. WOW!
We were able to meet the captain, the first mate and the chief engineer and talk at length. I asked at least a thousand questions and each was patiently answered in detail. An international crew of Canadian, Polish, Croation, Scottish, Filipino and of course, American.
We were treated to a delicious supper with the officers and crew.

My daughter took a bunch of video and when she has edited it and uploaded to YouTube I will share it here. I am simply amazed and overwhelmed with today's adventure.

Very cool, Brian! Last time I was in the Phils, I took a cruise ship down to Negros Ocidental and toured some of the sugar plantations. What a hoot. As soon as one of the crew saw me, he offered me a full tour of the ship. I guess they don't get many Gringos. I had the Admiral's Suite, so I was in a nice uncrowded area and stood out like a sore thumb. The next morning he took me up the the helm and they put me at the wheel. Big ship, lotsa people on board, Im sure they were ready to grab the wheel real fast. The two of the several plantations let me pilot their smallish 15 or 20 ton Plymouth locomotives. And we got to do all the stuff your not supposed to do with trains, jump onto the front of a moving locomotive, hop on and off the cain cars, etc. That whole excursion was a hoot!

I once caught a Loon while fishing for Muskies. What a commotion that was. Loon goes after my lure, I reel Loon in (bird didn't like that at all), wife and I are trying to calm the Loon down so I can unhook it while my kids are going ballistic in the boat. Of course it was windy, rainy, and cold. During this, my daughter (around 11) hooks up a big walleye; she wants help from mom and dad to land it but we're busy so she's on her own. Loon finally gets it that we aren't trying to kill it and let's me cut off the treble hooks without attacking.

Moral of story; always carry Knipex lever action compact bolt cutters when fishing.

Now that is quite a 'fishing story'! I once had a bird (small, no idea what kind) get its leg temporarily entangled with my line, but it went on its way in a few seconds. That will never happen again in my lifetime...

Back in my fly fishing days, when I was happy, I had birds take my fly several times. I just slacked the line and they dropped it. I guess birds don't like eating bird feathers. I did some fly fishing for cat fish. They have a "fly" for that. Mimics the feed they give them at the cat fish farms. I mostly fly fished for pan fish, takes no skill, you could use a regular rod and reel if you wanted. Bluegill are not too bright. I've caught those on a bare swivel clip thingy just to show off how dumb they are. My fishing holes all dried up. Owners died of retired and lease out the land. I can scare up a couple still if I try. One never ever gets fished. I might go out there again sometime, then just release the catches.

Never used them in 40 years of playing bass Ken. Closest I come is headphones in professional studio sessions, and that always takes me a few songs to get used to versus an amp and cab. I don't find headphones better or worse, just different.

I suspect that once you start down the IEM path you almost need a dedicated, professional sound person and something more than beginner level gear to be truly satisfied.

EDIT: When I saw Will's post I figured I should add that I do not sing, and I recognize that could make a real difference in how one might answer this question.

I've thought about it. As a single I do a lot of singing. On an online karaoke site I sing on, I use headphones. I've noticed I can hear my singing and nuances so much better with headphones than if I'm listening to monitors on the floor. But how silly would it look to have a 20 foot 1/8" cable going from my P.A. head to my ears? I dunno. Still thinking that one through... But I sure do like the way I sound in IEM's.

Bro @BadExample thank you for your prayers. We saw her regular doctor and she still has the fib, but it's fairly mild compared a couple friends we talked to. She's not going to take Xarelto until she sees a cardio specialist in Juneau probably on the 30th. Our little clinic is very overworked because we have the best doctor so he's booked solid, and we have to drag his @ss every step to get things done. We found out on our own when the cardio clinic is going to be in Juneau and when we called his nurse to find out if she booked wife for an appointment, she sputtered and apologized. When our doctor comes into the exam room, if he's running late, he complains that he's cutting into his next exam, and time is money!
It's hard to live in a little bumf**k end of the trail town and get good care. I love my wife very much and I get angry and protective about her health.
The good news is that her condition is not bad and treatable. We just have to get to the cardio to move forward.

I understand this. Having been thrown out of a ‘doctor’s ‘ office for not attending to the medical needs of the center of my universe didn’t accomplish anything though...finding another doctor in this inane ACA system is tantamount to torture. Just finding a native English speaker, or even one fluent enough to communicate, has become a lost cause.

Hang tough. There just aren’t any comfortable ways to deal with this sort of stuff.

@BassmanPaul my prayers with you and your wife. Wife used to smoke 10 years ago. I couldn't talk her out of it. The out of the blue she decided she'd had enough. Quit and never had a smoke since. I'm proud of her. All I did was give her a gentle reminder every day that I loved her and wished she'd quit. She got tired of me saying it but never asked me to stop. Wishing the best for you two.

Wow it's Thursday and nothing since Sunday, maybe we should do a roll call and make sure everybody's still here. And since this is in Amps and Cabs...... I was just going over some photos and came across this taken last summer. Two gear head buddies inherited a lot of gear from a friend they had known known since the 60's.
These were components of an amplifier he built early in the 70s. I believe that's the power transformer and just one of the tubes he used to make a THREE THOUSAND WATT Tube amp. They have the other transformer and tubes too. They used it to power their concert PA and some of the biggest JBL cabs I've ever seen. I put my size 10.5 sneaker there for size reference. Oh yea one of this guys other projects was bumping up the power tube count in an SVT to TEN 6550's. Haha
