Yes sir...absolutely, but I think that was the intent. So much of Mackie’s hardware fell into (I believe) the “disposable” category, as in works for a while until it doesn’t, designed to be tossed instead of fixed...seems they’ve fixed that, I guess...Yamaha for a Time always seemed more robust.

We won’t discuss the software side of early Mackie though, Sanewave...

Good to know. Based on your recent observations, do you see Yamaha quality still being in that higher tier on their products today (honest question, not trolling). I've only used two Yamaha mixers (one powered and one a straight mixing console) and both were excellent, but they were definitely older designs.

I don't know how this might apply today. Everything is based on historical experience which is no guarantee of current or future results

There’s also the idea of obsolescence, built in or just happenstance. So much of the low-mid end stuff is built to be thrown away instead of repaired, as it’s just cheaper to do so. I don’t know the last time I saw a maintenance schedule for any piece of gear other than tube amps and old studio or large house consoles.

Some might remember the Sony Oxford board (base price $1Million)and its little brother, R100. Now a lot of that stuff can be done on my iPad.

Luckily, I'm sure it was a whole 'nother pig than the ferals... which are a problem 50-70 miles south of here. Probably, some neighbor's kids 4-H project... definitely wasn't fight or flight around humans and their dogs. I was kind of insulted that he paid me no mind. Don't want him back because he could eat every vegetable plant I have left this fall without burping. Haven't seen him since Monday night, praise Bob!

Good thing then...we see javelinas all over the place, even wandering into town during droughts. Mean things. The only animal I ever shot was a javelina hog decades ago...shot him with a .22 pistol in the shoulder. All it did was piss him off. He chased me and another guy up a tree where we stayed until the boar got bored and finally left., about 3 hrs we reckon.

Well it works and well at that. Connected it up and tested. everything is quiet with no extraneous noise. I put together an SKB four space rack case holding a Carvin DCM1000L for mains, A Carvin lighted power strip and a Carvin IEM system that I have five belt packs for. Wandered all over the house listening on my earphones with no drop outs. I’ll be using this system this Saturday at a bar gig.

I find that you have to have a few years of experience and little wisdom under your belt to be able appreciate the value of someone who offers many years of experience and a lot of wisdom. I feel very blessed to have learned that lesson early in life.
