Very nice! That looks a lot like my neck o' the woods (or cactus :D)
I have never had a chance to hunt over dogs, always wanted to give that a try.
Yes Sir. Most of those pictures were taken near Sonoita at the Empire Ranch. Matter of fact I'm taking my "competition" dogs down their beginning this weekend and going through the next three weeks. AKC / AF have 3 Brittany clubs holding these events. Sauharo Brittany Club, Greater Phoenix Brittany Club and the Grand Canyon Brittany Club. With the time of the year and cold weather in the Upper Midwest, these events are always full with some of the finest pointing dogs in the country. A fun place to be this time of year. Morning temperatures in the 30's and afternoons in the min 60's to low 70's. Comeondown!!!

Here's one of mine,

Well, ok. Here's the best dog I've ever known and my best buddy, Jake the wonder dog.
In his favorite position

He's an old fart too, but definitely not grumpy. He groans when he lays down now, just like me.

This is his other favorite position. Being a Golden Retriever, he's happiest with something to carry in his mouth. When he's awake he's as playful as a puppy.

My other best buddy isn't a dog, but he's as loving as one.

My first memories of a dog was a Dachshund we had named Schnitz. The men on my dad's side of the family were avid pheasant and quail hunters and I remember a clan-wide camping trip to go hunting up north. Schnitz thought she was a pointer and if she wasn't allowed to go hunting with the men, she'd go nuts. The problem was, after 2 or 3 litters of pups she was pretty saggy and didn't have much ground clearance, so she'd come back from a trip through the woods and fields with a pretty raw underside. My mom was quite a seamstress and when we got home, she made Schnitz a corduroy corset that zipped up the back, so she wouldn't get torn up on the hunting trips. After that, whenever she saw that corset, she knew she was going hunting.

Yup, the Weiner dogs need "skid plates"`!! You think we are starting to bore our fellow bassists? Oh well!

I've never bonded with a dog as strongly as I have with Jake. He's a rescue dog and when we adopted him I think he chose me as much as we chose him. He's really showing his age and I dread the day that he leaves us. He's become such a big part of our lives that my wife and I will be inconsolable basket cases. But if it comes to him having to be euthanized, I'll be there for him, so he's not alone when he goes. I've done that with every pet we've had, either holding them or letting them look at my face as they close their eyes. It probably sounds corny, but with all they've given me, I feel that it's my duty to do that for them, no matter how much it hurts.
I'm gonna get off my soapbox now and go dry my eyes.

Sorry if I am, but there are few things I feel this strongly about.

This was our dog Tia. She wasn’t a little dog, she was only small. :)

She had a cushion on every floor of the house that she would lie on. In the garden the kneeling pad was fair game for her to usurp.

To my distress I couldn’t find a picture of Bailey our German Shepard/Husky cross. She was Tia’s big sister, best friend, and Mom. She was superbly intelligent and so full of love. We miss them both so much.
