Get off my LAWN! "Grumpy Old Farts"

Looks like the TB authorities pulled the "glad that Carvin is out of business" thread. Good ridance.

The self-centered attitudes from those clowns makes me sad, but you see it in so many ways now. The one that ticked me off the most was the smug fool who said that losing your job isn't sad, it's empowering. Maybe it worked out for him, but he needs to realize (as if he'd even care) that more often than not, it doesn't for others.

You and me both brother. It seems to be regarded as a weakness these days. I guess we're just old fools.
IMO character is not only everything, it's the only thing.

Pretty sad to me and probably you to see how younger people respond; cheering loss of jobs and the like.

Maybe we are just old fools... but we still have our souls. Maybe I'm stupid, but I trust about all the GOF's here, with anything.

The world has taken a turn and I'm not proud of it. Mass shootings, Buffet reporting that his tax cut made him TWENTY THREE BILLION DOLLARS. Do you know what I could do with 2.3 million dollars???? How many Carvin workers have kids/grandkids either in school or getting ready for college? Sadly we're losing hope when our young people can't go to college and compete on a high level like the likes of coming from India and wherever else.

I was disgusted to see an immigrant from India millionaire suing the state of California to stop people from walking on the public beach in front of his house. What is wrong with everyone nowadays? Such self-centered selfishness......

Other than that, have a great Sunday, GOF's......

As somebody who has been in the situation of losing a job several ones in my career, and seeing fellow employees suffer the same, due to events totally outside our control, I have compassion for those in this position.

Looking for work gets more challenging as we get older, especially in the technology sector. I remember hearing stories about how the aerospace industry wound down and spit out thousands of engineers, many of whom never found work as an engineer again.
I found out a long time ago that corporate America does not care about people but only the bottom line of the almighty dollar. Right out of engineering school I did not realize it, but 6 months in I sure did when I was given a big raise and transferred to a group of engineers, all older then me who were getting paid several thousand a year less then me. And also the very oldest ones were treated badly so they would quit before retirement. I decided right then and there to get out although I did stay in another several years until I decided to work for myself. Much less money but I didn't have this selfish corporate attitude to deal with anymore.

It would be nice if we had a world where people all treat other people with respect and compassion.

I was entertaining everyone,
We were just having fun,
Cuz Im the rocket aaaaaaaaayaaaaaas
I suspect some of your old shipmates and squadron buds would have sea stories that either involve or have you in a starring role that would make this event look like a routine 6th grade science fair demonstration...so with the threat of Captain's or Admiral's Mast no longer at issue, I'm guessing you'll likely confirm my suspicions and might even proudly furnish details for our continued enjoyment. Fly Navy! :)

The first thing that comes to mind... we got an antenna in for a whop-whop that arrived in a cardboard tube that must have had 1/2" thick walls. As soon as night shift AT's worked off all the gripes (pretty easy for AT's if the whop-whops were flying around breaking themselves), it took about an hour to make a perfect a potato cannon like thing to shoot bubble pack "bullets" across the hanger, onto innocent bystanders. It took a while to make the "rounds" rolled very tight and taped. They had to be a good fit, so shimmed with more tape. We we about 20 ft up from the deck, I guess. They added on a mezzanine as they called it and half the shops moved upstairs. So the protocol was to get it ready, open the door, fire at the target and retreat to the shop before anyone saw us. we all ran over to the window to watch the poor mech or hydraulicsman picking up the projectile and looking around, a bit bewildered. We did this for weeks. I don't remember how or why it ended, probably just got bored and moved on. I do recall the store clerk was not happy that his entire stock of packing tape when missing.
