I married a Social Worker who has heard all the excuses you can imagine! Nothing I say can convince her to let me do stuff I shouldn't do.
That is not only funny, it is also very accurate. At the very least, your wife earned her stripes with years of experience as an RN. Although one may expect sympathy from a spouse, an RN is empowered to provide a level of support that is conducive to the healing process. That does not necessarily relate to sympathy but what is needed to empower the patient to heal.
What your RN wife is trying to do is empower you to heal...sympathy does not do that.

Can’t you give her a quick feel and then reassure her? It’s the husbandy thing to do.
I take a lot of meds myself. How much they cost I haven’t a clue as I never see the bills. Those are just sent to Sun Life, the company that handles my benefit package, who pays for them.
They used to have a lot less remedies to prescribe for ailments. One was a worm powder, the other was an enema.
Some people pay big bucks for a chick (presumably) in a leather head to toe outfit to administer the power wash...and then send the bill to insurance.
A friend of mine was in hospital. He was given an enema daily. One day he decided to avoid the next by hiding in the washroom. The nurse knocked on the door to which he replied: ‘Who goes there? Friend or Enema!
While Marmaduke often brings back "game" still alive and wriggling... often it is a quite less appetizing corpse under a bit of pickling under the fir and looking like the inside of the bird that is served in Lynch's Erasurerhead.

So...we had 11 straight days of temps over 104, a day at 97, one day of monster storms and some local flooding, then back the beginnings of a streak over 105 again.
Midland is under Stage 2 Drought conditions, in that people on city water can only irrigate 2x a week (I never do, another thread) no public facilities watering, etc...and no rain forecasted for next 45 days.

Sorry, Ken. Seems Texas is taking a beating the last decade or so. I hope you have a better summer down there.
OK, GOF's I have to get this off my chest. I was reading an article yesterday that today it's been discovered that MEN are the cause of most of the gender problems in history.
So here's what they recommend.
If a guy opens a door for a woman it insinuates that the woman is weak.
If a guy is chivalrous and protects a woman he is sexist because he's insinuating a woman is weak.
Young women feel extra acts of kindness to the gentler sex is "patronizing."
It's the parent's fault for not teaching their sons to be more respectful of girls and sexism starts at a young age.
We were watching some old movies on TCM last weekend and it sure was a different world back then. Men complimented women on their looks, made passes and wolf whistles. Women were flattered and often flirted back. When there was a scuffle, women stepped back and let the guys duke it out. Women didn't mind being feminine and being as perceived so. They knew that doing anything getting dirty, or physical should be left to the guy. Guys looked nice and were gentlemen. Gals smelled pretty and dressed up for guys.
Sheesh. What an odd world we live in now. I love my wife Carey but I don't treat her any less than myself. Yet I am courteous to her, and if something physical needs to be done she looks at me with that look-- "isn't it already done?!" I am all for empowerment and equality, but I think the country has gone overboard. As a result it's been found that young men are starting to doubt their own identity because of all the focus being put on women. A lot of these insecure men go out and do bad things because they can't cope. Women have started using the platform to destroy men of all walks of life, and men get fired from their livelihood just by an accusation. And they don't even have to go to court and prove it! It's just on the accuser's word! It's a witch hunt.
I want to go into that movie Back to the Future, and stay back there (bringing Carey with me) or the Twilight Zone.
