I got some inspiring design concepts on paper last night... while drinking beer in the beach while the wind died down for a few hours. Still no rain but we are supposed to get 8" in the next 24 hours. Never experienced that kind of rain. By sound guy buddies place on the big island got 22" already with this storm, he can't get out of his place but they are well prepared.

Sailing off Maui is crazy enough without throwing in a hurricane, and the waves blow out pretty badly at around 35 knots or so. But the flood thing merits staying far far away in any case. Almost lost our house to one back in '96. 5 1/2" of rain came down over a super thick ice cap on everything, on top of a couple of feet of snow underneath the ice. Triple whammy!

In doing design, you can write off part of the vacation as a business trip. Have them ship you an amp, you could perform quality control on the beach: wind, rain, sand blasting. Like those old Timex commercials, takes a licking, keeps on ticking.

I'd be designing a really big boat that takes virtually no time to build using readily available household items,...but if you got a new product on your mind, skip the boat and just move to higher ground later. Be safe!
