In doing design, you can write off part of the vacation as a business trip. Have them ship you an amp, you could perform quality control on the beach: wind, rain, sand blasting. Like those old Timex commercials, takes a beating, keeps on ticking.

Beans Beans Beans...

"Takes a LICKING and keeps on ticking." :smug:

And nothing like live TV... this is a good one.
Nice recovery John.

I know nothink.

Ok, I'm officially bored... thoughts about what you might want to see on a hypothetical bass overdrive pedal?

Another Longboard should make this especially interesting and creative... ;)
Yes. A way to profile the EQ into and after the OD circuit. A clean blend with EQ profile of it's own, for reasons of I may want to OD only the mids, but a full spectrum clean blend may accentuate the highs. For one example use case.
Perhaps a tilt EQ, or an hpf lpf might suffice in one stage.

I think these are very intriguing ideas and I'm a clean player! :)

Along these lines I might be interested in an OD pedal that was more about capturing the warmth and harmonics you get early in the break-up without a lot of rough edge to it. I could even see a "voicing control" where you bring in the warmth and harmonics first over a broad spectrum of options and then near the very end start to introduce that rougher texture - think the territory in-between the Xotic RC Bass Booster vs BB Bass Booster.

I've also wondered if there would be any value in having two circuits in a pedal, one for a preamp type OD and one for a power amp type OD that could be used individually or blended. I think tube texture would be the sweetest sounding, but perhaps the circuit could include a selector to go between SS and tube to get some of the more classic SS type OD (think GK growl with less of an edge). Once again I would be looking for the extra warmth and/or harmonics more than hard break-up.

I'd be designing a really big boat that takes virtually no time to build using readily available household items,...but if you got a new product on your mind, skip the boat and just move to higher ground later. Be safe!

I think the Bible has some pretty detailed plans for a flood escape boat :D

With the increasing interest in using a PA and a preamp pedal, and the fact that most of those PA's are two channels, perhaps something interesting to send to two channels?

Nothing's like the cool moist sand between your toes!

That reminds me of the Way Huge Pork Loin. Mild OD and a clean British tone that can be blended with the OD and in phase. Maybe an OD, plus a clean blend, and both available separately for the PA crowd, and all in phase.

Words one rarely hears from someone on an island in the middle of the Pacific facing an epic storm. You're a better man than me (as if there was ever a doubt)!
Everything's pretty boarded up and we've walked the beach enough for the time being.

I had a two-week vacation and this thread has 16 pages I am not going to wade through... Went out three times for the doves, couldn't shoot worth much, got back with one dove each time. Two had miracle recoveries. Well, that was worth one meal with wife and my father-in-law. Dove breasts lightly tossed on a skillet, made gravy on the juice, served with fresh taters dug off the garden and some cranberry jelly. Delish. Work tomorrow, but once again I havelearned I could live like this.
