Bob, since you asked, here is my perspective.

This is a friendly place were older folks gather and offer one another support. Unlike some other threads, there are never arguements, nobody trolls here, or comes here to do harm. New posters are always welcomed.

This is a very active thread, in part, because of the visibility that it gets in the amps forum. I didn't know that misc existed untill today. Many here are pretty much only interested in the amps forum, they see this thread and drop in. People that currently participate in this thread will probably look for it in misc.

I suspect that not many TB members peruse misc, it seems to be kind of a wasteland. I fear that the lack of visibility in misc will result in new people not joining in and this thread will be relegated to die a slow death once the link in amps is taken away. A solution is to give the thread it's own sticky at the top of the amps page. You laugh, but I'm serious.

I agree, we should be discussing amps more.

Speaking only for myself, I don't expect any special treatment because I am a paying member. I only try to ask questions that I hope are fair. I don't believe anywhere in the last few pages anyone suggested they should receive special treatment of any kind, just some consideration for a group of grizzly old farts who happen to have a love of amplifiers and technology and often mix in a bit of ailments, horses, and gardening.

I agree with you, Beans, and we do discuss amps whenever someone brings up a question or solution. No questions, no answers.

The film biz provides more than enough ill conceived, unnecessary, time wasting variations on the "good idea". They add up and wear you down.
Couldn't Talkbass simply be a place to shoot the **** with like minds and forget all that for a while?
There're some real good fellas here that would not have come together if this thread had been anywhere but where it started.

Some threads are "iffy" about where they should go because they can relate to, say "Rigs," which can encompass basses, amps, effects, and live sound. I've moved threads from basses, to strings, and back to basses based upon responses, so it happens. This thread, though, is clearly not about Amps, so we're not moving it back. The moderators posting here have allowed some posts that are approaching violating rule 5 (questioning moderation), which is cool, but now: please consider this case closed. Future argumentative posts can result in an infraction or ban from this thread. If you really need to say something, send me a note or post to the help desk. But really, it's not going back to Amps. We have different forums on TB for a reason.

I can change the title to remove the "Amps..." or leave it.

Well, you're wrong. It's about amps when someone has an amp question or issue. Otherwise it's about being older, more experienced in life matters. There are amp experts here that can answer technical questions that won't get to them now that it's been moved.

I'm wrong about plenty, but not this; this thread is not focused on Amps. It's not a technical question thread, it's an club for self-proclaimed old farts. Technical questions get answered in other threads, and someone asking a technical question would not automatically go to this thread based on the title. This is silly. Move on.
