No one said we can't talk about amps. The only thing we were ever warned about as a group is politics. Then recently about that which I will not discuss or respond to.

I thought that we were supposed to talk about amps more. Being a dyslexic I often get things backwards.
I am dyslexic as well. Very much so. Maybe I got it wrong and we are supposed to talk about spma.

I have received a warning by PM. I replied to it stating my thoughts so I am expecting to be banned again shortly. If so I’d like to wish all the GOF’s the best and the greatest of luck. Especially with their health which it seems is a subject verboten. The fun has gone for me and I am left with a feeling of great disappointment. this used to be such a nice place to spend time but with the Sword of Damocles hanging over our heads not so much!

Years ago, radio builders went miniature using things like metal altoid cans. Amps had to follow.
I have a smokeyamp. It’s good for guitar but is way too distorted for bass. Never tried running it into an external cab like they show into a Marshall 412 in youtube videos.
It’s interesting in that it shows how little power it takes to drive a big speaker cabinet.

The problem with these sort of circuits is they can be noisy. That’s fine for guitar but more problematic for bass. It would be an interesting design project, maybe use +24VDC. A transformer in the audio pathway and JFets in Class A.

Agedhorse...while you've been in the lab working on new product ideas (always a good thing IMO), somebody else has obviously been busy too. I say it's time for the gloves to come off if you're going to remain on the [meat] cutting edge of where it would appear class D canned-meat technology is headed!
when the self-powered craze hit for a while in the early 2000's, I saw a guy who designed a small amp that ran on very low power but put out great sound. I asked to buy the design or license it from him-- my idea was to harness it to a self-winding charger. Like the self-winding/solar charged radios that are popular now. He never did get back to me and I wish I had pushed that a bit harder. It would be cool to have a bass amp with a solar panel and winding charger on it.
This one isn’t beefy, it’s mostly pork but does have a fatty tone to it.
Maybe the key is more electrical horse power.

@BassmanPaul, I think an emotional HPF/LPF would help smooth things over.

Well we could, but then guys like me would quickly be out of business! I'm more of the trust, but verify type...and feel like a having a big stick handy is always a good idea, especially when talking softly.

I think for GOFs a methane powered amp with an adapter taken from the enema industry would be more efficient. HarnASS that free gas!
