OK GOF's. You know I love all your grumpy old selves. So I'm going to say something in regards to our little community here.

We were moved to a different forum and it caused a lot of people to get upset. Too much bad language and hurt feelings came out of it. We've survived, and the moderators have allowed us to exist for another day. We need to give them credit for that-- they could have shut us down forever. And that would have upset me. There are a lot of GOF's here that I might never meet but care about and admire, look up to, and value their opinion.

I'm asking everyone to put the whole thing behind them. The mods are smart people. They know when they see sly sarcastic remarks made about them. Please, for the good of the community-- drop all the negativity and let's come together in a positive fashion-- renewed in our comeraradie. You are all very good people and I suspect enjoy visiting each other as much as I do. Let's not endanger that anymore.

What's done is done. We leave the moderators alone, hold our tempers and just be ourselves, and we will get back to some sort of semblance soon, hopefully all will be forgotten. There are those of you visiting and not commenting who were very upset and don't want to comment anymore. Please get over it and come back in the fray. You are valued. It's not worth the pain of grudges or whatever to lose that contact with fellow GOF's.

I am siding with everyone who comes here. We get along, come back together, and we continue to have fun. Forget the past and even if you're upset-- GIVE IT A TRY AGAIN, remember how much you enjoy coming here.

GonePlaid is on a two week unpaid vacation from posting duties, but able to read posts and communicate via PM. He reached out earlier today and we've had a fun exchange. He empowered me to pass that along to you all and hopefully I'm not breaking any rule by just letting you all know his status.

I honestly believe in about two weeks time we'll have the band back together and will have mostly forgotten about this incident, save the appropriate lessons learned like taking a disagreement with a Moderator's call off-line and then respecting that they actually do get the final word. Sometimes the rules feel frustrating (I personally hate rules and feel they are unnecessary for people who can respect appropriate boundaries and exercise common sense), but realistically we all know they're necessary and I for one would not want to be in the Moderators shoes or have to do their jobs.

Well said! With total respect for the Moderators who were doing their jobs in accordance with the published rules, only you can give someone permission to ruin your day. The Moderators are good guys with tough jobs that I wouldn't want, so I agree 100% with you Will.

It's a very tough job. I've done it and never will do it again. I've been moderated here. I apologize every time and learn from it. I understand were they are coming from. When we do bad things, it takes away from their family time.

I disagree. Don't tell anybody, but I think Baddy revealed his heart o' gold way back here. Maybe not as eloquently as Rodney King, but sincerely and truly.

Fella's it's not a good idea to question the moderators or other staff in the open forums. Better to just PM him if you have concerns.

I don't see how it matters where our thread resides. What matters is what our thread is and who is in it.

Chef is a member. And a good guy. He's been lenient with us over the years.

All members and even visitors generate revenue for TB, in the form of advertisements if not a supporting member. There is nothing wrong with that, nor with TB making money for its owner(s). IMO it's none of our business if and how much money TB may makes, unless they are an NPO or a publicly traded corporation. This is not our property, so we are required to follow their rules, or leave. Just like Walmart, a restaurant, or a private residence.

I'm not a moderator, nor am I trying to act as one and tell anyone what to do. I just suggest accepting the decision or taking it to PM for a discussion, because we have had members banned for fighting back in open forum. This is just best for anyone concerned, and best for keeping the thread open IMO.
