Well, I've got this twanger friend and he just spent like 3 grand on the Eric Johnson strat and a custom pbass. So, he doesn't want to spend any money on actual woofers. In his mind, "amps" are combo's that you plug into... He's using the pbass through his guitar amp! Jeeze! I wish you guys would back me up that that's not a good idea. I don't wanna hear him whine after he blows his guitar amp speakers.
I allways come to the grumps for AMP INFORMATION. just look up my posts.

I think you can consider yourself backed by most of us. Even if the speakers can survive, he's missing out on the tone he would get from proper bass gear. I was going to suggest letting him play through your gear and let him hear what a $2K ax sounds like through a real bass system, but, no. Don't let him near your gear! Get him to GC with his ax

Eric Johnson strat

That's a fantastic playing and sounding instrument. Quarter sawn neck, selected wood for the body, thin nitrocellulose finish. An off the shelf product with the quality of a custom shop build.

I have one that I bought when Fender first started offering them. I didn't realize that they were so expensive now.

Nickle-metal hydride

I was going to suggest Lithium, but realized that Lithium is a soft metal. Nickel is a much harder metal and I would think that most players who play metal would like their metal hard. Probably the same for metal groupies.

However, Lithium may work if you are playing Kenny G metal.

I think lead acid would be good for some of the heavy metal bands in the latter part of the psychodelic era would work. Deep Purple? Rechargeable too, as many of the later 60's groups were and some still are.

I think so... unless it's a 3rd party/knock-off laptop battery, then it would be best for cover bands.
