The Micro POG has 3 level adjusting knobs. First one is the note being played, 2nd is 1 octave down, 3rd is 1 up. Mix and blend however. Also has 2 outputs: dry and effect. I only use effect(on/off with the button)but it would be pretty effective with 2 amps.[no, I don't work for EHX]

I should have kept mine, it was a very coo pedal, especially so, after I started using the dry out in stereo recordings.

The sub octave tracked quite well all the way down the E string. The high octave needed to be used judiciously as I found it a bit cheesy sounding if set too high.

I thought about this @beans-on-toast -- I had one odd request they couldn't fulfill. I called them and asked if they could cut down the sides to make a more shallow acoustic guitar and they said they contracted out for the kits and they were made in bulk-- in a word-- no. But I'd still be interested in trying one someday...

You can probably find a local craftsman that can shave it down. The neck heel might also require shortening, depending on how thin you wanted it.

You can use this tool to mark the wood, it works well. There’s a tool for everything Then sand down to the line. Glue sand paper sheets onto a large flat surface. Keeping the edge square is important. It helps to use a scraper or blade towards the end to fine tune.

But a planer would do a good job in giving you a square edge.

I have an old Electro-Harmonix Octave Multiplexer (somewhere) that can be mixed between -1 and -2 down. In a pinch, you can use a guitar to play bass. The fuzz is kind of 60’s cheesy.

There are better boxes around today. I use an Eventide thingy.

Interestingly (to me anyway ) I am making a baby pedalboard, just to do it. When I was a working man my “effect” was fresh strings, but I got a Zoom B3 a few years back as a one pedal solution for a headphone amp/effects/screw around box. I enjoy some of the front ends and there are a couple good compressor emulations and some nice choruses that I like w my fretless ‘77 P.

The looper is easy but a PITA to move back and forth from and the octave is meh at best. Just got a Ditto X2 here on TB and looking at octave pedals next. The Aguilar seems to have a bullseye on it but the POG stuff seems solid if not (maybe) overindulgence for my needs? Happy to hear more about it. The fretless ‘77 P just got a good going through and having an octave in the chain is stupid fun on that stick.

Like the look of the minimalist PBass. Loopers can be used very effectively. I find that they take some time to develop technique without overdoing it.

Happy Saturday, GOF's! I've been kicking around the idea of trying out a new lefty ibanez called the SR505. Last year I lucked into buying an SR1200EL with a 5pc Jatoba/Walnut neck and it played like butter. Stupidly, I returned it to Guitar Center, who had mispriced it at a drastically reduced price. Now the SR1200's are really hard to find.

So, I do own the mahogany SR500. I tried a couple five strings but they felt so odd to me-- the neck felt like a baseball bat. And it seems odd to me to have the lowest string a B instead of E. How many of you play a five string and find it a valuable addition to your collection? Here's the bass:

I learned on a 5, so I don't feel it awkward at all. I love 5vers, own two. Poor like me, I got Johnson by AXL J Basses from Pawn Shops. First the 5, then a 4; same pickups, wood, color, everything. Was hoping the 4 would sound as good as the 5. Was disappointed with the 4's tone in comparison. I feel that the larger neck must have been the difference. More neck wood=deeper tone? Could have been luck of the draw, but it wasn't even close. I learned on the 5; everyone else who tries to play it can't get used to the B where they expect the E. I just think of the middle string as an A and am never confused. I do play 4's and just see the strings that would be under my B. I'm too newb to get stuck in my ways, I guess. People seem perplexed and ask "Really, why do you play a 5?" Yes, I play metal, but one gets all of 4 lower notes. That's not a reason; I can just move a string down and not have to move up and down the neck so much. Pretty much it's deeper tone.

So a brief gig report from Saturday night. The forties stuff went down very, very well. Riders in the sky particularly. We were fed Filet Mignon in a four course dinner. One of the couples in attendance left us a $100 tip!!!

Getting there, the 401 highway West was jammed solid but once we got onto the 400 north things sped up. Though we were behind the time we expected to arrive there was still plenty of time to set up. We were assigned a meeting room for changing our clothes. It also had a private washroom for our use. All in all a superior gig experience!

The jack on my bass, Carvin LB76 lined Fretless in Koa, gave me trouble all night. Thats the next job for me to do.

The band leader introduced us all but got my name wrong. Called me a pimple!!
