Yes, walls and cottages and such, here's where I hold space. File it under "can't get there from here" (unless you know the boatman). Last human habitation was 1965, although one or two make a space for themselves in the summer.

Interesting...my wife's family came from an island that was also depopulated in 1965...Ireland's Eye (not the one by Dublin, the one in Trinity Bay, Newfoundland )

There's a reason why they call Newfoundland the rock. Visited there and Labrador on a vacation, beautiful views.

Gander control in Canada is the North American centre for North Atlantic commercial flight crossings to and from Europe. The Shanwick Centre is the Europen counterpart, located in Ayrshire, Scotland. The air traffic controllers work together to keep planes in pre-defined tracks and oversee separation.

Over in Dublin we see how higher windows are built smaller to create the illusion of a building taller than it really is.

Those are lovely buildings. Reminescent of Downing street in London, although there the top windows are dromers on the roof.

Interesting that in the old days, buildings had what they call Western False Front Architecture in the prairies and westward. The architecture, by making the building look bigger, projected an image of success. No doubt, carried over from the east and across the ocean.

A family member owned a grocery store with a brick facade like this. The building was constructed in the 1800 and was a factory with a blacksmith shop in the back before the property was bough to use as the grocery in the early 1900's. The business survived for over 100 years.

That spot on the water is just mesmerizing, I love the ocean, and stone also.
Here is a little bit of South West rock. First photo is me and a old friend heading in to the Bears Ears National Monument in Utah, you see the Bears ears in the background. Second pic is the Ear you see on the left up close. The rest are from Canyonlands/Natural Bridges area. Last one is just a bit of stone and brick work i did last year.IMG_0600.JPG IMG_0607.JPG

Spectacular!

Watch out for rattlers under rocks.

So long as the glass doesn break, these negatives hold up just fine. And, so long as they were originally processed properly, particularly, the fixing and washing parts of the process. It is still a gelatin bass base holding the silver, the only thing different is that it is coated on a glass plate vs. some other more flexible substrate like estar or in the really old days, acetate/cellulose. The detail retention is not an issue, so long as there is detail in the negs, to begin with.

Here is a hi-res file of a photograph I made from an old 8x10 glass plate.

Nice cottage!

You have a very nice, old home. Has the plumbing and electrical been updated on it? HVAC?
You would probably love this site...if you already don’t know about it. Click on each picture for high resolution.

I have only seen one rattler in my life, and that was down in San Carlos Mexico. It was in the evening and was cooling off, drove up to a huge rattler slowly crossing the dirt road. There was cat messing with it! They are here though, Guy was at a party a few years ago north of me, went to put out a smoke just off a patio, and got nailed. Had to fly him to Denver. Cost eighty grand!

Nice work! Mad skills.

Unfortunately, you'd have to spend the summer in Iowa..want some walkways done.
You want to hire someone who will put walkway material on 4-6 inches of compacted road base. Base should have crushed rock not round, it will hold up, not roll apart! It's all about the base or bass!
There are some good strong cement pavers you can get, that you can drive on, and come in different colors..069.JPG
