In Milan it might appear to the uninitiated that traffic laws are general recommendations. Beyond the city, the roads don't strictly belong to cars. Here am us about 40 km north of Turin.

Those are big bull bells. You don’t realize how big those beasts are till you’re surrounded by them on the road while sitting in your car.

Seriously, the insurance companies should be required to accept 'Stupid Parent Syndrome' as a legitimate diagnosis.
I do find it interesting that we require people to get a fishing or hunting license which by definition involves hurting or killing things, but we have no requirement for a parenting license which presumably involves nurturing, mentoring, stewardship and a lot of other stuff that is about as rare as common sense IME.

Not sure how others feel, but working at Children's Hospital for 20 years and being a Paramedic since the 80's sounds like a couple of lifetimes worth of experiences to me. Thanks for your service!

I was reading in a local country rag that PTSD is the number one affliction of paramedics in that area. It’s now recognized as a personal injury amongst first responders in their union contracts. Experiencing carnage takes a heavy toll. On average, fifteen percent of their staff are on sick leave at any one time.

Agreed to all of the above. We don’t have anyone giving numbers anyway so pick one and Welcome to the GOF’s! Also thank you for your service! Now start grumping!

"I cried when I took that photo," Invalid Link Removed wrote. But he did his job.

What a character.

Roy Rogers and Trigger. Larger than life.

Happy Soulful Sunday...

Motown Funk brothers with Bob Babbitt on bass. They knew how to do it well. The first thing that hits you when you listen to this song is the strong bass line. It makes the song.

The song was written in 1969 but held back till January of 1971 because of the backlog of charting harder psycedelic era Temptations songs. Fans wanted a return to soul ballads. It became one of their biggest songs, reaching #1, but came at a time when the group had fallen apart. Indeed, music was changing.

Roy wasn’t a Westerner. He was born and grew up in Cincinnati. His home was situated where home plate was in Riverfront Stadium.
Also, nobody in their right mind who knows anything about horses ever wants to see a horse up on hind legs like that. It's a very aggressive stance that means "I weigh 1500 pounds and I'm about to stomp the life out of you."

Of course, the horse that played Trigger was surely well-trained to do that on command, but in general that's the horse you stay away from if you're at all horse savvy :)

Since I don't 'read' horse, I stay away from all of them. You know, just to be on the safe side.
