I didn’t realize that people expressed animosity towards short scale basses. I have two and nobody has ever knocked me for it.

I bought my first Fender back in college, because a teacher told me that I wouldn't get gigs with my short-scale bass.

I did get in trouble a few times in the late '70's, for showboating while playing fancy coffee-table basses. But that was my fault, not the instruments.

I've had everything from an 18" silicone-stringed DeArmond to a 42" EUB since then, and never had anybody diss me for my choice of instrument. I currently have a 25" mini ABG and a 34 to 37" fanned-fret Dingwall, and they both get gigged regularly.

The only place eyebrows ever seem to get raised about my gear, is on Talkbass.

I’ve never been a bass or amp snob. I’ll play anything.

What I love about my short scale basses is the light weight so I can move around and the ability to play faster passages.

McCartney is an influence. Short scale.
Bill Wyman is as well. Short scale.
So is Jack Bruce. Short scale.

Those three are good enough for me.

I have a PBass but play other basses more often if I’m standing.

I was going to say that I don’t have a Fender Bassman but then I realized that I do. But it’s a reissue ‘59 410 tweed thingy, not a blackface head. It works well enough with a real bass cab.

I do have some modified Ampeg bass amps. I should be reducing the inventory rather than dreaming of anything new.

No denying the satisfaction of simply plugging in, in the knowledge everything works.

Exactly how optimally everything works is another deal.

Not a fan of raw fish. Cooked with vinegar or some acetic marinate is fine.

I think back to the days were fish and pork were full or worms. Seems that they still can be.

Wife and I watched a show a while back where a young girl was swollen in the stomach and they discovered that it was a HUGE TAPEWORM!
I'm not squeamish but that kind of killed my experimentation with raw fish....

All it can take is a relatively simple virus to wipe out all human life on earth.

That’s as much raw flesh I eat.
