Anyone who has ever been to Philly and not eaten a soft pretzel has never been to Philly.

The Reading Market has especially good ones, and DeNic's pork sammiches at the original location there are a real contender in the high stakes "best cheesesteak" wars. Yep, the best cheesesteak is pork, I said it. Tony Luke's does a nice one too.

Ha yeah, to me the ultimate Philly cheesesteak gutbomb is from the truck north of city hall. Be sure to have a Goldenberg's Peanut Chew for dessert ....

Saw this morning HHDL says he feels about normal following successful treatment of an infection revealed by treatment of a primary infection.

My wife’s grandmother was on a ship crossing the atlantic from England when the Titanic went down. They looked into traveling on the Titanic but it was more expensive than the freighter that they took.

She live a long happy life. One decision could have changed all that.
Wow!!
When I was a young boy I met the gentleman who sold the tickets to the folks who traveled on the Hindenburg's ill-fated trip. Later in life during my government career one of the first places I traveled to was Lakehurst NJ and my meeting was in an office in Hangar 1 - I thought of that old man. Life is full of strange coincidences sometimes.

Philly is also close to ground zero of the Scrapple Belt. Any who are okay with white pudding are probably going to be okay with scrapple, and visa versa. Serve it plain, with ketchup, with maple syrup yeah sure fine there is only one proper way to eat scrapple and this comes directly from the the sailboat

Drink your coffee
Fried eggs go in the bottom of the coffee cup
Scrapple goes on top of the fried eggs with runny yolks
Now there is only your fork or spoon and coffee cup to wash before we sail

***

Presenting a scrapple sandwich to a native Californian is probably not going to go over well.

Been away from this thread for a while. So sue me. Take away my monthly Social Security check. Now to the topic on my mind. What's left of it, that is. In keeping with the overall theme of 'get off my lawn', how about 'stop blowing stuff on my lawn'? I've had a long standing problem with my neighbor's lawn maintenance guy blowing stuff into my yard every week. This fellow use to do the yards on either side of me but I was able to convince one neighbor to switch to a 'real gardener' friend of mine. No more problems on one side of my house.

After about five or six heated conversations with this fellow and his crew they were still consistently blowing leaves and other stuff onto my property. What to do? This past Tuesday I decided that as soon as the blower started running I would stand next to the section of lawn in question and video them with my smart phone. The plan was to video my lawn before they started blowing stuff on it, video while the torrent of leaves swirled onto my property, then walk over to their truck (and trailer) and capture the license plates. Then politely inform them that this video would immediately be posted on YouTube.

Much to my surprise as soon as they saw me holding up my phone, they came around to my side of the property line and blew my patch of grass clean back onto the neighbors property, got out a rake and raked everything into a pile, and didn't blow stuff into the street (as is their custom). My grumpy old fart motto is, "Don't blow stuff on my lawn!" If you're having similar problems, I encourage you to use this peaceful, non-violent method. I haven't applied for a patent yet...so enjoy the free trial period. Lol.

It's nice to have an old house with character that you can make your own through changes. Being able to renovate in your own time when the funds are available is a gift.

I always get a sick feeling in my stomach when I go past the point of no return and think, am I going to be able to pull this off?. It always turns out ok in the end but I worry.
The key to all this is a good contractor with an excellent team. ;) :smug:

What is this coffee everybody keeps talking about?

I've never had the urge to try it. Probably never will because of the addictive nature. I see too many zombie's out in the early morning, stumbling into shops to get their first fix of the day. They always look much happier when they emerge having replenished their cups with their magic elixir.

Here.

Any fool can plainly see that

And use the same products of efficient butchery plus oatmeal and blood, and there you have black pudding. Fried for breakfast (or eaten as a snack).

Folks do well come to understand the Amish do business with The English on their terms.

Friday night pizza.

This dough recipe is similar to what I use. Leaving it in the fridge is important, I let it sit for at least a day and a half. I use sea salt, it seems to make better dough.

The pizza stone is not necessary, I use a 12” thin steel pan on a low rack. I pre-cook for 8 minutes at 475 deg F. Remove and add the sauce, grated cheese, and toppings. Cook for an additional 12 minutes.

Wait, what, didn't you RSVP for the balsamic vinegar tasting night at that new hipster vegan la-di-da salad bar? There's also a couples discount for any who arrive on their tandem bike.

And people in commercials are my friends and want to help!
