The myths of Chrysippus:
He died during the 143rd Invalid Link Removed (208–204 BC) at the age of 73.[4] Diogenes Laërtius gives two different accounts of his death.[17] In the first account, Chrysippus was seized with dizziness having drunk undiluted Invalid Link Removed at a feast, and died soon after. In the second account, he was watching a donkey eat some figs and cried out: "Now give the donkey a drink of pure wine to wash down the figs", whereupon he died in a fit of laughter. His nephew Aristocreon erected a statue in his honour in the Kerameikos.[18] Chrysippus was succeeded as head of the Stoic school by his pupil Zeno of Tarsus.[19]
It's really his just deserts: y'all gots to admit it was a pretty lousy joke.

Today, June 18th, is Paul McCartney’s 77th birthday. Yeah, yeah, yeah. He lead more than a few of us astray.
He was certainly one of my influences. The second bass I bought was a Hofner like his. My Dad approved saying it was more of an instrument that the white solid body VOX Clubman bass it replaced.
Sadly it was stolen, along with a Burns Trisonic guitar from our van in Widnes Lancashire.
From one Paul to another: Happy birthday Sir Paull! You're four years older than I but, God willing, next January I’ll get one back.![]()
I did love a blonde teardrop shaped bass that Bill Wyman played for a short while. I liked the Vox stuff-- it was unique and modern to my young eyes....
Recent in retirement project.

The VOX instruments were manufactured by a company that manufactured furniture. The nut on mine was a nylon block held in place by a couple of slotted round head wood screws.
