Absolutely, and the amp as-is does work very well. But in this case I did significant board revisions for the next three similar builds and I have a spare set in the latest spec that will screw right in on the same mounting centers. I even have all but a few parts already stockpiled. But all of that was also true at least a year ago, so...

Seems the height of hubris to intentionally make a mistake for the sake of humility. But that's the myth of Amish quilting.

This practice seems to go way back in many religions and philosophical views. Humility is seen as a virtue which should be practiced.

But claiming that a particular mistake was intentional shows a lack of humility in of itself, even arrogance. We are presented with challenges in life. How we deal with them is the hard part and provides a measure of our being.

I read a lot of Native American history. I read that when doing beadwork, a flaw was intentionally left in the beadwork to show we are not perfect.

It's also done quite a lot in Japanese pottery. And when a pot is broken in Japan, it is sometimes mended with gold at the cracks to highlight the new flaws.

Sad but not surprising. BTW, you can actually order a "left-handed veeblefetzer"(not affiliated). I intend to get one and mount it on my R200c amp.

Actually, I got it this past Saturday. I still have to make photographs of it but here is a representative image of what it is.

I'm guessing it is from around 1910, or thereabouts.

People who frequent antique stores are picky about those things. I lost a sale on a table because it had a scratch. The table was almost 100 years old, it deserved to have a scratch. If it was being sold new, in the box, it is reasonable to expect pristine condition, but something that old, with a scratch, not a gouge, give me a break. By the way, Jeff, nice table.

Having some thing look old that actually is old is very dear to Japanese culture. I used to seek perfection but then I left the Collective and woke up.

When I turn 119 I hope to look half as good.
