Playing all the right notes is overrated.

Just play the important ones, leave some holes for the song to breath through.

I can manage better in my blues band...and get better the more I do it
But reggae...nope....just not happening....Hmmm...How'd Sting do it?
But I have never seen a bass player in a reggae band sing as well

I was told the best way to drive a DD 2 cycle was to slam the door on your hand so you were mad enuff to keep the RPM's up.

They did like to rev and unlike the Cats and Cummins engines I drove didn't seem to develop as much torque in the 1200-1500 RPM range. When you got in that 1550-2100 RPM range they actually felt pretty strong as I recall. The good news was they were lighter in weight yet fairly durable and pretty simple for the diesel doctors to work on. The trick was not to constantly run them at or over max RPM and not to lug them...good advice on any engine I suppose! The 92 series with turbo and after-cooler (TA version) seemed pretty competitive though and had more guts under 1600.

Does the engine being so close to the driver throw off enough heat into the cab to make it uncomfortable?

No. It's very well insulated. Some of the non-road[local]trucks, less so, but mine never had a heat problem.

Yeah. I almost bought a 6V92 as my first truck but it had some problems that were gonna be expensive before I even got started,so I passed on it. The last few(company)trucks I drove had the later 12.7L 4 cycle DD's.

I'm using something called iReal Pro to get and transpose charts for a project I've been working on. Lots of standards, fairly decent charts and I can easily change the keys to fit my voice and edit any questionable changes.

I'm not one who likes to bring stands or devices on stage but I'll do it if I'm subbing or sitting in because I don't have the time or inclination to learn a lot of new music for one show anymore. We had a big jam here on Saturday and most of us were just playing from memory. Toward the end of the night I brought a chart in to play with a guitarist I'm working with; handed copies to another guitarist who was there and he still played it wrong. "I know how it goes!"

Yeah, no you don't. So I stopped and showed him where the changes were that he was missing. Then it sounded good and I got to sing one song that day.

For the most part we all had a blast playing the music and I was forwarded a screenshot yesterday of a post in a neighborhood group saying thank you to whoever had the live band because they enjoyed the music. I love my neighbors, and we are blessed with an ever-growing circle of great friends .

Cool. A friend of mine worked up a sweet country version that I got to play on at a few jams he ran.The singer had a 50s pinup look going, but with lots of tats, and when she started channeling Patsy Cline it was way cool.

The drummer to the right on that first video (acoustic kit) in the FB post plays in a rockabilly band with a singer who dresses up like that. They have a great look. I had to specify which drummer, because there were two of them playing; one on my husband's acoustic kit and the other on his own electrics. First time I ever did that

I also never noticed heat being an issue and really liked the flexibility that a cab over provided in tight areas (easy to maneuver and great visibility). On the open road a conventional had/has a better ride IMO and was safer in an accident, but for tight quarters and staying within overall length limits (back in the day before regulators started just focusing on trailer length) the COE was a good compromise. I often wonder if driving for a career would have been more fun than what I ended up doing professionally, but things worked out okay in the end.

I normally can't see linked Facebook content on here, but I'll try it with a different browser and see if I can make that work. I just bailed from FB a few weeks ago and although I may still keep a presence going eventually, I'm really enjoying not doing that for right now.

It kind of sucks that they’ve made it nearly impossible to download videos now. I’ll keep looking for a way.

I was able to hoover all the NAMM ones from the booth my stuff was in this year with Opera and a third party extension. Haven't tried since then, but I doubt that the lack of a current FB account is going to help.

And in further yelling at clouds news, Facebook not having a native audio-only posting facility is beyond ridiculous IMNSHO.

FB itself is beyond ridiculous. I keep it because the need to be in touch with people through FB is currently greater than my desire to be rid of it. But I don’t like it.
