It might scare away prospective buyers because I'm sure they're heavy. Once Sweetwater gets some in we'll no for sure by then. If the pickups can be put into single coil mode then it would have to be the Master Volume and blend that can be tapped I'd assume. A wasted opportunity to put a couple more switches under the bridge to resemble the original.
Yep, same here. Unless Gibson came across some exceptionally light batch of maple these babies are going to be on the chunky side. To me personally, that's not a huge deal since I doubt that I'll ever gig an RD again if I end up buying it.
That's going to be interesting in more ways than just one...
I'll admit to being confused with the electronics setup - from a distance anyway - myself. But since I'm hellbent on trying the bass in question first anyway, I guess I'll do the figuring out "on the spot" when that time comes...

From what I've seen with my Heritage Cherry, and Walnut SG Std.'s, Gibson made these up right. Fine QC on both basses, and the ETB92M Nylons strung on both play well also. Other than changing the strings, the only other change I did to both, was to install the SG stamped Truss Rod Covers. Plain covers came on them from the factory.

I like that lighter shade of Walnut. The 70's EB3 Walnut was much darker. Very nice. Was that a special model for a certain year?
Yes, you're right about the older Walnut being darker. I think the lighter Walnut on the 2018 model is the newer standard Walnut.
I wonder if it will darken as it ages, especially as the nitro finish yellows.
It could, but I don't think it will darken much, if at all.
I just picked up a Gibson Money Bass in Midnight Blue. It's a bit banged up cosmetically, and it's missing the truss rod cover and the case, but the electronics all work, the truss rod itself works fine, and the action is good. Oh, and holy s@&t, the pickups are hot hot hot!!!! With the pups set almost flush with their surrounds, it can overdrive my LB30 almost at-will, and that's with the amp master volume set at 9:00. I love it! The neck has a nice P-Bass feel to it, and the bass weighs around 9lbs. I figured it was worth the gamble for just over $500.

Which is *exactly* the reason why I don't own one. It's beautiful just seeing how variety works. Seriously.
No argument from me on that one. If everything works as it should, that was a bargain basement purchase given the quality of materials and craftsmanship found in these basses.

Nice bass!! Did you get the from Guitar Center's used site? I was watching one there for a while but ended up with the winning bid on my LPB2 bass a while back. Those pickups are amazing and aggressive!! I have those pickups in a couple of basses and love them.
Thanks! Yessir, I did pick it up from GC. The last time I had checked, it was $699 or $649, and then it was gone. It popped back up recently and steadily went lower and lower, so I took a chance on it. The finish has some hazing to go along with the various other marks, but it really doesn't look bad. I'm definitely not worried about it getting banged up, and I like that there's not a ton of info on this model. FWIW, if you find one, give it a shot. Mine sounds good and is well-built. The body is a bit smaller than the traditional Les Paul Bass, the bridge is different, and the electronics are the more traditional VVT setup. It's its own beast, and if you're a fan of Gibbys in general, you might love it.
Looks like Sweetwater has an RD in stock. 11lbs 13oz. Way too heavy for me, a full 5lbs heavier than my (admittedly light) EB 2017.
