When I had the Krist Novoselic signature RD, it weighed about 10.5 lbs. Heavy but my strap made it easy to wear. I wasn't wearing it for long periods of time but I would imagine it would start feeling like a ton of bricks after a little while.

I played The Beatles, "With A Little Help From My Friends" with the Walnut SG Std. today. It has the most fantastic sound along with that song. The deep full punch from the Humbuckings. You don't give up, or lose anything in the sound. Outstanding!

I'm seriously glad I did. My .02 cents here, the head, and the cab match up very well. My Gibson SG Std.'s lows sound great playing through this Ampeg combination.

I’m still in love with the Money Bass I picked up last month. It really covers a ton of tonal options, and I’m still surprised how easily I can push my LB30 amp to overdrive-territory at low volume because of how hot the pups are. I’ve found that if I run the LB30’s treble control at about 80%, Bass at about 40% and Mids at about 45% I get a nice overall tone that remains clean at higher volume while still having ample low-end to fill out the sound. If I put bass and mids at about 90% and back the treble control to around 40% I can fuzz out my amp at very low volume. It’s great!

I’ve actually been favoring the Money Bass to my SG Faded lately, and that’s saying something considering how effortlessly my SG seems to play. I’m really surprised that the Money Bass never sold better than it did. It’s got Thunderbird-esque sounds available without the ergonomic issues that some people complain about. The Money Bass does have a chunkier neck than the T-Bird, though, and it doesn’t have the beautifully iconic T-Bird body shape. Different strokes for different folks! I’ll say it again, if you haven’t played one before and get a chance to check one out, don’t pass it by just because it says “Gibson” on the headstock.

Now I just need to find a “$” truss rod cover and hard case for mine. I got my bass cheap partly because it didn’t have either of these things.

Thought I was out of this club for awhile when I sold my G3, then I remembered...

My new Gibson ES Les Paul bass. Its a "new" 2016 floor model, and I got it at a great deal. It has a couple minor cosmetic flaws, but you'd never notice them unless I showed you. It took some work to get it setup. I'm new to doing my own setups and it took me a few days to get it dialed in. I was struggling with the open E string sounding weak, but got that straightened out by setting it up properly and balancing the volume from all 4 strings.

I've learned something important from this bass . . . I like a deep low tone like a p-bass with flats and to me this Gibson bass sounded somewhat weak, a little "woody?" like something was missing in the tonal response. But today I was playing it with a backing track and the sound was just beautiful. I had everything turned up (both pickups max volume and tone all the way up). Normally this is not what I like to hear. But, I don't know how to put it other way than to say that the bass was singing. It was right in the mix perfectly and I could hear every nuance. What's the lesson I learned? Stop dialing in that solo tone I like, and find a tone that works in the mix! No one cares what your bass sounds like in your bedroom. How does it sound with a band?
