I'm guessing it's the humbucking T Bird pickup the also use in the modern SG. Which would probably sound pretty great in that position.

I like how you're already planning an irreversible mod. That is the Talkbass way.

well, I'm guessing the street price would be around $700. thus, buying one and modding to death would be cheaper than building a new bass from the scratch.
I liked the concept of brooks eb-tb ;)

Thank you. I still regret that I had to send it off to its new owner.

The guitar version is listed at $799 on Guitar Center. Maybe that will be the street price for the bass as well?

You highly doubt that $999 will be the street price? I don't. Gibson hasn't shown a separate MSRP for several years. Starting in 2016 or maybe a year or two earlier, Gibson has shown just one price for each model, and that's the same actual price charged at the online retailers. Don't take my word for it, look at the prices shown now on Gibson's website, then look at the retailers' sites.

That's what I usually do and there's always a difference, the real world street price is always lower. Anyway, soon we will see.

I have never been more excited for a bass than this Les Paul Junior Tribute DC. I wanted a Mustang but the new Performer series have that silly jazz pickup. When I saw this bass I just knew it was meant to be. Now I just have to choose between black, brown and blue. Can’t wait to be a Gibson owner!

Maybe in Europe. Not in the US. Gibson has one price, they no longer have a list price (MSRP). That one price is what their dealers must advertise. If you can find a dealer who will discount further, good for you, but they can't advertise it for less.

Gibson's announced price for this bass is $999. They could always change it between now and whenever it ships to the stores, but whatever the price is on their website will be the price at Musicians Friend and the other online stores. There won't be a $999 list price and a $700 actual price because Gibson doesn't do things that way anymore.

To add validity to this claim, Chicago Music Exchange said they are gonna be $999 on Instagram. Now I must be off to order short scale flatwounds and a strap that perfectly goes with brown, blue or black.

I'm set. I have an extra black leather strap and an extra set of D'addario tapewounds. They should blend well with the blue.

OMG After 50 years I want a Gibson! I've always loved this bass but the vintage prices kept me far away. I feel myself succumbing to the distant call of this lovely looking bass.
