Still, it wouldn’t take much at all to bring out simplified versions of their mainstays such as they previously did with their recent SG Special and Thunderbird Studio basses. Besides those easy ones, there’s a LOT they could do, really, if they’re into it

My gut feeling is that we'll see no new/revamped bass models in 2020. I'm also predicting that Epiphone's range of offerings will shrink and noticeably so in most areas, starting with electric guitars.

My $0.02 only...

I've given the Gibson reps my two cents on this when I'd visit the Gibson NAMM booth. They are focused so much on guitars compared to basses however. Epiphone's vintage styled version might be all they'll bother with.

Yes, I have one and I initially liked it a lot even with the rather weak pickups. But mine had a very instable neck because the wood was too soft. I had to give it to a luthier and he made a nex fretboard, added a volute made of ebony to stailize the neck at the nut and mine now has a zero fret. I will post pictures when I find the time.

I now think about replacing the neck pickup with a Schaller bassbucker and the bride pickup with a TV Jones thunderbucker.
