Just got this on a trade. 1973 Les Paul Triumph time capsule from the original owner! Every single thing is original. Putting LaBella 760FL-S today and then do a deep dive to see if I want to keep trading/selling or keep her. Enjoy!
I have 2 in my arsenal so far. I picked up this '75 ripper back in January and I've had the T-bird since Jan 2022. The ripper has very quickly become my go-to and I've been neglecting the others so hard I feel bad. It's just such a vibe and it sounds unmatched with a pick. Highly recommend while they're still under $3k in the market.

I currently have this Ripper for sale locally in Phoenix. The 4 position switch was ditched decades ago and just uses the OEM pickups with 2 volumes and 1 tone control.
I have had this bass since 1998. I love it ......... but it is really heavy compared to the short scale Gibson's I have. I'm also really digging the short scale neck too.

I’m in the ripper club, but I didn’t know there was just a Gibson club! I own a 1978 Ebony Ripper I scored in the early 2000’s. Love it!
Ah, a Ripper is so much more than the 4 position switch. But, I know some people will discount it.
Me too! Thanks for the number! If ever I think my other basses aren’t a solid quality, I remember, I own a Gibson.

I bought this 2014 EB new. It's the bass I learned to play on and is the only bass I've ever owned. It's been solid and stays in tune amazingly well.
Well, tomorrow could be a day I might come to regret. A guy from Tucson is coming up to buy my Ripper (of 25 years). Just pulled it out and man ...... what a beautiful neck on this bass! Thought I had a stupid price on it, maybe not stupid enough.

I know how you feel, at least to a degree...
Sold my EB-2 on Reverb, took it out of the case to check it out one last time before packing...and refunded the buyer an hour later, with the note that I just couldn't part with that bass...
I need some advice from the guys that own either the Midtown or ES335 bass, or both. Generally speaking the ES335 bass is selling for about a thousand dollars more than the Midtown.
I understand the difference in the body construction but, the Midtown seems to have much nicer embellishments such as, binding around the top of the body, a bound fretboard, etc.
Also, I am not seeing the orange Gibson sticker/info inside the F hole on the Midtown's, is this normal?
Those in the know, please educate me! Buying one of these could hopefully, possibly, but probably not, ease the pain of selling (most likely) my Ripper today.

Yes.
From what I'm to understand, the 335 is a less common instrument and carried a higher price than the Midtown initially. I don't believe that I've ever played one so I can't comment on them.
I do own a 2014 Midtown Signature and it's a fine instrument for a newer Gibson. My suggestion would be to try one in person, since the balance may not be to everyone's liking.
