Those RD Artists are sweet looking basses. How do you like them? I see Gibson just did a re-issue of the 6 string model. I'd love to see them do the bass as well.

I love these things, but I am selling the maple to make room for a Lakland Hollow. The necks are somewhat thick and long (I have short fingers), but the real thing on these are the electronics. The moog board really allows so much more expression in playing, making this a great bass to do solo work as well as operating in a more traditional bassist's role.

I've got an SG supreme natural on the way... I always wanted one of those fireburst ones, but never had the money, and still don't for that matter. I'm glad I had a coupon and store credit or i'd never have gotten one.

My Fender Jaguar failed me at a show, and I found my backup with a busted jack, so here I am on stage with no bass. The bass player from our opener lent me his vintage slotted EB and it changed my life, haha. Everything I was looking for (sludge, heavy heavy sludge) was contained in this single magical instrument. Unfortunately I couldn't afford the vintage ones either.

I can't wait for it to get here. (although it'll get its debut/christening at SXSW)

Hey Phil what happend to yer Jag to let you down?

The second I plugged it in, the nut'n'washer popped off and the jack just kinda dangled. I put it back together, and the same thing happened again.

I bought a pack of mono jacks to replace it, and I pop it open and find it's got some weird stereo-ish jack. Even though i've only used mono cables? I have to look into it a little bit. As a stop gap i've removed the bottom nut to get past the portion that's stripped. Then I bought a right angle cable to hopefully lessen the tension, and duct taped that to the body. (with the matching color tape, of course. haha) I just don't trust it right now, so i'm glad to have gotten the deal on the Gibby.

Hey man thats a nice little family of gibsons you got there i was just wondering casue im gonna grab me a gibson bass soon, whats your favourite out of them, ive been trying to decide between the SG and the Les paul bass, seeing as you have good experience with both of them, which one would you choose for sound and playabitlity and just qualtity over all, if it helps im into blues and classic rock

I got my supreme today.

It's pretty much the most beautiful bass i've ever seen.
On looks alone? It's perfection. (I've got practice in 5 more hours... dunno if I can hold out that long.)

I was afraid of getting one like you posted! Plus there were some I saw on ebay that had dark lines of grain running through the flame, kinda ruining it for me. What I got was a way better flame then I ever imagined based on the pics that I came across.

I had to tweak the rod a bit since it hadn't been touched in over a year. Fret ends seem a tad sharp, kind of a shame, in that regard, but easily overlooked. The fretboard looked dried out a bit too and needs to get some lemon oil into its life. Probably why the ends seem sharp.

I'm on my way to practice. I hope it sounds half as good as it looks.

It was a joy to play last night at practice. It didn't take long to fall in love.

I'm a guitarist by trade, and it just feels more comfortable moving around the board. I don't think i've been able to move around as fast on anything else i've ever played, including other short scales. I was able to dial in a pretty good sound within seconds of plugging in. I've been trying to go for a "Geezer Butler on Sweet Leaf" sort of tone.

I don't think i'll be taking it to SXSW however... I don't want it swiped/"misplaced" before i've put some mileage on it.

I'm such a worrywart.

I've added another Gibby to the stable! I just couldn't resist the closeout prices on Money basses on eBay. The bass arrived yesterday and I'm very, very impressed! It's really a nice one. I think it's going to see a lot of action. Here it is with its older brother.

Hey guys, I've been really busy with moderator duties in two other forums and haven't been able to keep up here as I had hoped! I won't assign any more numbers, but I hope we can keep this Gibson thread running for fans of our favorite basses.
