Gigging Musicians: Cabinet Choice

I've been using the tc electronic rs210/112 cabs for a while now. Playing about 15 shows a month, the 210 gets the most use but love the 112 when I can get away with it. Both together are great.

Mesa Walkabout/Scout 15 combo... practically every weekend I lug all 70 lbs of tube-n-MOSFET-driven whoop-@$$ to a gig somewhere. Hmm... maybe they should call it a DragAbout.

Aguilar GS112 around 35-40 pounds. I have two of them so I can cover gigs without PA support if necessary. With one I can do the whole rig in one trip (bass w/ Aguilar TH350). I wouldn't mind trying the SL112 but nowadays I usually never have to walk more than a few blocks so it isn't a big deal.

Depending on the venue size/what band I'm playing with I either bring just the 810 (about 150 lbs), or both (215 is a little lighter at about 90 lbs). Luckily the head is solid state and only weighs about 30 lbs.

Was using a fEARful 15/6, 51 lbs, but mine suffered from too many reliability problems. So now I am back to the Genz Benz UB212T, 63 lbs. For smaller gigs I use either a Glasstone 212, supposedly 39 lbs but probably more like 41 or 42 lbs, or a Hartke HyDrive 112, 32 lbs. I really like the idea of a Hathor or 2 though. If only I could get someone to finally fix my fEARful, but it's really been a lemon.

Larger venue add RS210 (45 lbs) or RS212 (52 lbs)

Sometimes I use the BH550 (6 lbs) with the RS212

I have two 2x10 Eden cabinets; I use one or both of them depending on the gig.

A pair of Mesa Subway 12's with my Prodigy or D800 on top. Will bring my Berg CN 410 when I need more volume. Subways are 27 lbs, the Berg is about 50

A PF115HE (about 45 lbs) for smallish, more intimate affairs. For larger venues I stack that cab on top of a PF115LF (about 55 lbs). The 800 watt head weighs about 12 lbs. Both cabs are on wheels, but I remove the upper cab's wheels just before I place it on top.

Thinking about an 810 E though.

For small venues and classical gigs, I use either a Berg HD/AE212 or HD210 with a Mesa D800 - perfect together.

For larger venues I use a Berg 610 with any number of heads - but I found a great solution to having to lift it into my vehicle.

I bought this road case for it -



It has 4 huge, heavy duty casters on the back so I can roll it anywhere. It also serves as a large dolly as well.

It has a small latching door on the back so I can get at the inputs / tweeter control.

I also picked up an aluminium folding wheel chair ramp so I can just roll it from my house or the studio, into my vehicle and into the gig venue !

It was kinda pricey, but my back thinks it's worth every penny

I roll it to the back of my truck and slide it in.

Large gigs RevSound 210 + revSound 112T, medium gigs Revsound 210, jazz gigs & duos Revsound 112T. my main amp is a Genz Benz Streamliner 900. I play a lot of concerts and outside gigs as well as clubs and I've never had a gig that my setup couldn't handle.

Uber 410 and my SM 9.2. For the new trio, I am using a Shuttle 6.0 210 combo that is very easy to transport.

GK MB115 combo. 35 lbs. I have a second one I'll stack if it's a bigger / outdoor gig. Or tap into the PA.
