God help us, every single one, if this gets funded...

I'mma grow me some "long, luxurious nails," then "blow off steam and jam!"

Dude sounds a bit like Saul Goodman.

"Did your hands get injured in a car accident, slip and fall, or bit by a dog with a negligent owner.

Don't leave it to the insurance company, you better call Saul!

(Every client gets a free Saul Goodman promotional hand chord.)

Yeah I can see some Saul Goodman there.

I think the design is cool. Will it help people learn to play guitar? Who knows...

But really, I think actual instruments are on the way out. It might take 50 or 100 or more years, but playing an instrument that requires physical skill and practice will start to seem quirky and anachronistic at some point. I can't even say it's a bad thing. The physical part of playing an instrument is just an athletic achievement. True musical creation happens in the brain. If you level the playing field (say with a direct mind-to-computer interface), then EVERYONE can play 25 notes a second. When it's not special any more, the only way to distinguish yourself will be to have brilliant musical ideas. Just as has already started to happen with music, there will a lot more crap out there, but there will also be amazing new creations using the new technology. I'm guessing there are people out there who are potential compositional and musical geniuses, but have trouble developing the physical skills. I can't play amazing piano, but I can hear incredible piano concertos in my head. I wouldn't mind directly transferring that to a computer.

Soooooooo....basically you're re-inventing "Guitar Hero"? :eyebrow:
No, guitar hero has I think around four buttons to press, and you still need some very rudimentary ability to play in time with the screen, which you therefore have to watch. My device is much simpler - hit play and hold the bass. I just used it to master an entire Victor Wooten CD with only one hand.

Finally, a device that will enable me to sound just like Esteban on my Esteban guitar! If only they could come up with a mechanism that could pick my strings for me, I'd be all set...they could call it a "Picker". Hmmm...

I applaud his attempt to appeal to the mentally deficient fools eager to send him their money by including those with physical limitations and learning disabilities among his target demographic. Also, who has time to remember those pesky chords anyway? That just like, gets in the way of my creative process, man.

It's only a matter of time until the Bass equivalent come out. It'll just be that much easier for the posers.

Here's one solution! From a former band mate;)

It is unfortunate the way they decided to market it, BUT I have one friend with arthritis who can barely play and another who had a mild stroke. This might actually be a good thing for them. I'm going to forward it.

My Dad is 92 and quit guitar because he can't form calluses on his fingers and the strings bruise his bones. Fortunately he is primarily a old time fiddle player and he can still saw them bones.

I can see this being useful to many people and not just lazy people.

No one is going push Jaco out with this device (oh, he's dead you say?)
but those of us with learning difficulties (musical learning difficulties that is!)
could it help us get some sort of grip on starting to play?
If it does I say bravo and the hell with what you think!
...get my drift?

No I will not buy one, but that single string bass does look like even I could
swing it!

is there a thingy like that Chord Buddy that is a capo, so you could quickly do alternate open note tunings on a guitar or bass? You could do some weird Michael Manring style wackiness, and cool hammer on and pull off etudes. Oh yeah, and that brass knuckle chord blob thing IS the fine line between clever and stupid.

If I could get what I hear in my head recorded.....damn...
